Default Interesting Fact about PS2 / Parallel to PS3

Came across this:
http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/cpu/ps2vspc.ars

Quote:
...Looking ahead to the next two or three years, the future looks much less certain. It'll be quite a while before developers are able to figure out how to harness the full capabilities of the PS2...
Basically, from what I read- It talks about how hard the PS2 is to develop for. This is a large topic of concern now in regards to the PS3. Over time, the PS2 devs became MUCH more familiar with the system and did great things. Looking at this, we can only assume that the same will eventually will happen with the PS3.

Just make this clear to people who complain about developing for PS3 now.

The problem this time is that the PS3 has proper competition, the PS2 did not, it blew the DC away. This time round the X360 is extremely easy to develop for, I mean a second generation game (GeoW) claims to have tapped the system to 95%, so the choice for developers is either to develop for the X360 and farm out Cell coding for a port (which is what they currently do sans Take Two, Namco, Sega, Konami, and of course Sony), or thy can code for the Cell and port to the X360 by stripping things out as it is not as powerful in the processor area (which is really the only thing that matters at this point as nVidia and ATI havent released documentation for their GFX cards yet).

Back when the PS2 came out the niche amount of Dream Cast fanatics were raving on how Dream Cast games looke better than PS2. Again these were launch titles that barely scratched the surface of PS2 hardware. I mean if you were to dig up old games made in 2000, and compare them to game released just recently, it like night and day. PS2 outlasted every competivie hardware in the market. Dreamcast, Xbox, and Game Cube. This has nothimg to do with graphics, as games did. Just the past few years PS2 had really top selling RPGs such as Dragon Quest 8, and FFXII.

As with PS2, it will be PS3's games that will have to set it appart from Xbox 360. HD graphics is all good and fine, but It really makes no diffrence if your games are crap. What PS3 needs is more diffrent genres of games than Xbox 360. Xbox 360 IMO is on the verge of over saturation. Too many simmilar games that play the same. Even Xbox Live can't prevent People from getting bored and wanting somthing totaly fresh and original.
