Technical incompatibilities imo.
I notice alot of people complaining about the lack of extras even to the current day. So i'm wondering if its technical incompatibilities with certain players thats putting off studios filling the disc with goodies. Or alternatively it might be the staff with the technical know how too much in demand giving precedence to only the biggest movies. I watched both Kill Bill's last night and thoroughly enjoyed them. However, the extras had each of the actors sitting in a chair talking then I would watch about 2 or 3 minutes of footage I'd just watched in the movie. That is absolutely ridiculous and adds nothing to the disc at all imo. There was nothing about the stunts, the wire play, the anime.. Geez, I could go on all day. Studios still need to do more. Or at least throw a few excuses our way. |

it's an interesting topic (maybe an industry insider can share some light) but what I would like to know is why i recently discovered more deleted scenes on youtube from There Will Be Blood that are non existent on the disk.

it has nothing to do with the players. if you stuck in the kill bill dvd with the extras, all of them would play fine.
a blu-ray player should be able to do anything a dvd player can. |

I think it's just a matter of cutting costs on the part of studios. Blu-ray for the time being is still a relatively small market (compared to the current DVD market) and as such, some studios skip on the extras to save a few coins in the production process ... especially if we look at the cool features some of the better discs have, that's the only conclusion I can make: namely that it's not a technical issue but an issue of cost reduction. |
