Default Upgrade receiver or BD player??

hey guys, i have been wanting to upgrade my receiver for a while now and did some researching and found out that the new panasonic BD55 model decodes all audios with older receivers with analog outputs.

so should i wait to buy a receiver for hdmi? or upgrade my BD player to this one and not have to spend the $ on a receiver now. what do you think?

i heard that there is no heard difference between analog and hdmi sound wise? is that true? thanks in advance for the help

You should upgrade your receiver first.

BD30 is a solid player.

Upgrade the receiver first. I think everyone is in agreement for once!

ya i know the player is solid and i love it, but if i were to sell this one and buy the BD 55 model it will decode all audios, that way i dont have to spend $400 plus on upgrading my receiver right now? plus i heard the BD 55 has a better video processor in it?

You just presented the facts and answered your own question. If you can't afford a new receiver, and you're not willing to wait until you can, then upgrading your BD player is to one with internal decoding and analog output will get you lossless audio.

If it were me, I would be inclined to wait and upgrade your receiver. By the way, how old is your Onkyo receiver, and what is the model number? I don't think you ever stated that one. You might be better off waiting to upgrade the receiver.

onkyo SR602 7.1, but no HDMI, about 2-3 years old now

ya i would probably be better off waiting to upgrade my receiver and get one that does it all. i also heard that the receiver does a better job at decoding than the players do? is that true?
