There are like 3-4 threads on people ranting or discussing WBs Blu-ray quality.
Can we please just make 1 WB thread? |

I agree but I think that a lot of them forgot that they are the ones who made a big leap in helping out Blu-Ray winning the format war when they went BD exclusive this past January.

There were some from Feb of this year, but I don't think those really matter. |

While I disagree with his constant BITRATE postings, Lgans316 already had a WB complaint thread that got closed, so I'm not sure what the thinking is behinnd creating a mega thread... even though I do support one.
However, I DO disagree with some of Clayton's choices: First off, the "Do you hate what Warner has done with Justice League?" thread. While the thread title itself has a lot to do with WB, it's not a WB-centric thread as the same complaint regarding the Blu-ray release was had with the DVD release as well... so it's more of a title issue than a studio issue. Perhaps the best idea with this thread would be to MERGE it with this thread from crazybat 07... announcing the title's release...though perhaps the mods can change the date in the title to the US format given that it's a US release. There's even another "Justice League" thread that COULD be merged as well (link). The coffee book threads might ought to be merged into one thread, but should probably remain seperate as while WB is currently the only studio using this style, it's not really a studio-centric issue. The Matrix pricing issue thread could be either closed or moved over to the Matrix thread (like the OP expected) or the Blu-ray pricing complaint thread (where did that go?). Quote:

I didn't go into each thread and read them. That would've taken forever. I just looked at the titles and saw the ones that appeared to be complaining about WB.
And the reason I pointed out The Matrix one was because I thought it should be part of the pricing complaint thread. I figured they could probably just look at some of these and figure out the right place to put them. I also just meant the coffee book ones could be merged since there's no need for 2 of them. |

Complaining about Warner's shoddy Blu-ray practices is the last great battle in the format war. We are now nearly nine months away from when they declared they were dumping HD DVD and currently they are the only studio left of all the majors to still release titles with lossy audio and low video bitrates. I do think complaints tend to overwhelm any Warner title announcement or discussion but that is clearly a reflection of some underlying resentment in the userbase here and elsewhere.

They have said, numerous times now, they are working on getting better. And to think they're the last great battle is just absolutely rediculous. The last great battle is probably going to be mass adoption and DVD. And possibly downloads, but I am doubting that. |

I agree with you wholeheartedly that there are still HD DVD encodes out there ("The Perfect Storm" and "The Lost Boys" are two recent WB releases that appear to have been made for dual-format releases... and I'm sure they won't be the last, but the writing has been on the wall for a while now. When "Shoot 'Em Up" came out on Blu-ray with a high-bitrate encodes, Maxpower1987 stated that it was because New Line wanted to test out using seperate encodes for both formats, but after WB announced they were going Blu-ray exclusive, he admitted that New Line knew "Shoot 'Em Up" would never be released on HD DVD. Granted, "Shoot 'Em Up" was a New Line title that was handled "out of house", but if New Line knew to start Blu-ray encodes last year for a title released at the first of January, then surely WB knew to start Blu-ray encodes in for films released in June and later, and it appeared they did as mulitple titles came out in June that could never have fit on HD DVD, as well as some last month. While I disagree with some of the "61tchin and moaning" about WB, and trust that Bill Hunt's faith that WB has gotten the message, there are still valid concerns in the meantime. ~Alan |

Well one has an 'European" flavoring to it so that will remain in the Europa fora. But I did move a few of the general coffe book/digipack info/comment posts there to the big other thread.

Let me just say this really quick just because I don't want to turn this into a WB complaint thread.
I do agree that WB absolutely 100% needs to step it up a notch, but I think we need to just wait and see what happens in the next couple of months as far as everything goes. As for Shoot 'Em Up, like you said, that was done "out of house" and as we all know, WB is a little bit slow when it comes to the whole Blu-Ray thing. Plus it's possible some of these discs we're seeing were actually encoded last year for HD DVD. Possible, but not very likely... but still possible! Anywho, that's the last I'll say on the matter! But thanks for merging the threads! |
