Default Blu-ray really needs NEW CASES!!! *dissapoint-a-thon*

I just picked up Clone Wars and Firefly this morning. Clone wars is fine. The slipcase was a nice touch.

But I had to struggle to get Firefly. Love the show, have it on DVD and couldn't wait to see it in 1080p. Anyways, there is no slip case, it's in a slightly bigger case with the discs in there - and guess what, one of the holder tabs was broken. This really pisses me off! This isn't the first it's happened and it likely won't be the last. I just paid a premium to get a High def version that looks like like it's made of blue, cheaply recycled, flimsy plastic. How about a nice box like Warner's Matrix, or heck, even a slipcase to tell it apart from my other blu-rays?

What am I supposed to do now, it's not like there's multi-disc cases just sitting around? I ended up putting the discs in my DVD Firefly box.

It's becoming real hard to spend extra on these sets only to get spat on!

Well, those cardboards tend to keep the cases safe from shipping damage. So I'm all for it.

if any of the tabs, slip cover, cover insert or anything are broken on my blu-ray or dvd case then I return it.
If it's a local retail story it's an easy exchange.

If it is amazon or such I just return it for a refund and then pick up a copy at a local retailer. Or I watch it and then return it to the online store for a replacement.

Haven't ever had any store refuse a return. If it's broken it is broken. Even if it is only the case and not the media itself

I've never had any problems with any of my cases.

And as far as I'm concerned, Warner can go to town with their pretty cardboard cases - I'm still not buying them until they put a quality disk inside....

I actually really like the blu-ray cases. I have had problems with cases breaking and not being able to close. Luckily www.sleevetown.com sells blank cases for really cheap if you want to replace the case without going through the hassle of sending it back to amazon or returning it to a store.

agreed, DVDs have much nicer boxes, Seasons were usually made of cardboard and looked more special then normal movies and many movies just had cardboard boxes just to look nice, with blu ray all of them look pretty much the same and boring other then the few companys that put the time in to put a nice little slip case.

That happened to me on a BD case as well. Can't remember the title now offhand (When We Left Earth maybe), but when I opened it the tab fell out and the extra plastic disc page is now loose in the case. It's sorta the same thing with DVD plastic trays and CD cases when the plastic spoke break. One of them in my Target hardcover book holding Indiana Jones and the Kingdom blah blah blah is that way. The thing's sorta worthless to securely hold the disc in anymore.

Multi-disc cases (3+) that have anything broken inside is a big pain since there are no online stores that sell replacements.

I know which ones you are talking about I have had one case that is like this and it broke. I feel like I am going to break the center tabs each time I take a movie out of the case.

Why can't we have one damn case style for every company and be done with it. I want Sony and Disney style cases all the time.

Here in Scotland or if you like the UK. We had slim cases to start with when Blu-Ray was first launched in late 2006. I have lethal weapon and training day there both slimline UK cases.

Now there all chunky cases

What was wrong with the slimline cases

They probably cost less and look much better than the chunky ones we have now.

While any dictionary will define 'spat' as 'to have spit upon', spit itself is actually in the past tense. So when someone says 'spat' that is what I am thinking of the rest of the time they're talking thinking, do they really think they sound smarter saying spat? Hey, also, that sucks about your case. I just got Get Smart and the same thing happened, but I didn't have to put the discs in another case. They still fit in the actual case and the discs weren't in danger.

Maby we should sealte the matter on saying that Steelbooks may be the way to go. I don't have any on BD yet!* But the anime I have that has a steel book, works just fine. I drooped the case by accident so many times and still no damage to the inner layer just the outside. but I will say that the case should be made of a stronger plastic. thin cases would work just fine but have a slip over the cases. But that is my oppen.

*Could any one tell me any titles that have steelbook casesing? Or how to get them? Thanks

Prepare to spend money for that kind of casing. I have Sweeney Todd on Blu-ray in the steel case and now there are so few copies it costs a lot of money to get your hands on it.
