Maby we should sealte the matter on saying that Steelbooks may be the way to go. I don't have any on BD yet!* But the anime I have that has a steel book, works just fine. I drooped the case by accident so many times and still no damage to the inner layer just the outside. but I will say that the case should be made of a stronger plastic. thin cases would work just fine but have a slip over the cases. But that is my oppen.
*Could any one tell me any titles that have steelbook casesing? Or how to get them? Thanks RI |

Prepare to spend money for that kind of casing. I have Sweeney Todd on Blu-ray in the steel case and now there are so few copies it costs a lot of money to get your hands on it. |

The studios only care whether you make the initial purchase of the Blu-ray. The standard BD case's design was mostly a result of marketing concerns more than an exercise in package engineering. The studios think most consumers don't care (which may or may not be true) and the ones who do will just exchange them. The cost of media is so cheap this is the course of action they have decided on.

What you could do is preorder games at Best Buy, they give you an empty PS3 game case so they have something to present on the shelf. Then after you buy the preordered game, take it back unopened for a full refund and bingo, you still have the empty PS3 case from the preorder.

My Transformers slipcover had a gigantic split right down the front center. As you know, that plastic slipcover is the only thing that has the actual title of the movie on it, so I can't just ditch it. But that plastic slipcover is very fragile, and it's no wonder it got cracked in shipping.

never had any problems with the blu-ray cases. i think they're very sturdy. far more than dvd's. you got a bad case. happens. doesn't mean the case sucks. i've gotten cd cases that were cracked and damaged before. it doesn't mean the cases were bad or need to be redone. it just happens. that's life dude. not that big a deal. bad when it happens, but life goes on.
