Default Bonus View disappearing from many Blu-ray movies more and more. WHY?

only love for BD-Live. Almost all the new releases (except Universal movies i guess) is only featuring BD Live now. Why are the studios abanddon BV. Why are they not supporting both now they are only supporting BD-Live now Its freaking weird man

You see you are not suppose to pay attention to such things. Honestly. I don't even know what these things are that you are talking about but I would be willing to bet dollars to donoughts that it has something to do with including it when a re-release happens. Remember when d.v.d.s first came out...what 1997... it was a few years before they started being done really well beyond just remastering but also including ANY type of bonus features. It allowed things that had already been released...to be re-released again which was fine I think. THOUGH I do think they should get to where they are doing all they can for movies in terms of including bonus content on Blu-Ray discs though as I think that there is so much out there they are not really going to run out things to sell people in my opinion...

I think pretty soon... all studios will release nothing but the movie itself. You will have to use BD-Live or some other sort of internet-based tool for bonus features. This will save on extra discs and various other packaging costs. This is just my opinion of the future though.

I dunno. I'm thinking about the titles I've recently bought...

Sleeping Beauty
Kung Fu Panda
Wall-E

they all have BD Live features- but the only stuff I wished I could have watched were the bonusview commentaries :-/
(I have a profile 1.0 player. I look at it as now I will have something "new" on all my old movies when I get a new player!)

The studios believe BD-Live features are where the format is headed. I would expect to start seeing them on virtually every new release.

I would agree. Bonus view is a feature that is not used by many. The future of the format is in BD Liver; although, I do not mind the bonus view features.

I don't expect this to happen at all.

What will happen is they'll release just the movie itself....but on dvd. The BD will become the "special edition" release.

I don't agree with the statement that Bonus View content is somehow disappearing from movies on Blu-ray. I've seen plenty of picture in picture stuff on many of the movies I've bought or rented in the last 2-3 months. Bonus view content isn't on all releases, but BD Live isn't either. Recent releases like The Dark Knight, Wall•E, Transformers, etc. feature both BD Live and Bonus View content.

I apologize for the dumb question, but can someone give a brief summary of what both BD Live and Bonus View features offer?

My primary focus by far is on the movie itself. I occasionally check out extra features, but I don't make a point of distinguishing between what sort of extra stuff I'm looking at. Everything's playable with the PS3, so I don't pay attention.

Thanks

As I understand it, BonusView is displaying bonus material on top of the film as it is running. BDLive is hooking up through the internet to download extra bonus material.

My tastes are for the moive itself and maybe a separate documentary of 30 to 60 minutes. Beyond that, bonus material can get tedious.

BV is also that cool feature that was on Alien Vs Predator 2 about the Alien/predator mythology. And the feature on the x-files I want to believe "complete timeline" BV is much more then PiP commentary.
But the studios are already closing the door to a feature that has not been fully developed yet.
BD-Live is really not a great feature if you think about it"create your own scene/share with a friend over the net" it is borring stuff. Also the features will disappear when the netsite has updated with other features i really hate BD-Live.
I read in a magazine that BV is popular amongst consumers apperantly not by the money hungry studios and they don't give a rats ass about us at all

I hope so! I don't watch any of the bonus stuff and would prefer to save money and just get the movie itslef and let other people pay extra if they want those items.
