Default Definitive Technolgy Subwoofer

I'm helping someone on the site ''BLindsay'' he/she is leaning towards the A2-250
Sub.
I Private Messaged he/she telling here the Def Tech Pro Sub is better.
I then asked he/she what he/she was looking for in a Sub and heres what I got Clean,Deep,Hard Hitting,Smooth Bass, and no distortion or coloration.
For me I prefer the Pro Sub 800 being a smoother deeper and cleaner sub than the A2-250 but the 300 definitely harder hitting Sub .

So i'm asking the masses to vote and comment

Sorry I made a post today like this but wasn't very specific

Pro Sub 800 http://www.definitivetech.com/Produc...d=ProSub%20800

A2-250
http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=309

BTW the Def Tech is a very nice looking sub.
While the ED is alright but not to pretty.
oops the poll says A3-300 your voting for A2-250

So, you have heard both? I would rather have one 12 than a couple 8s. Why do you think the eDs aren't capable of producing clean bass? I guarantee it probably hits lower than the Def Tech...

I agree with Jason. Go out and listen to the DefTech. Then buy an eDand realize, "Wow, good thing I didn't go with the ProSub" - there is no comparison between them, if everything ive heard about the eD is correct, and it is like its big bro the 300 - and I've listened to the ProSub. I mean, don't get me wrong - it's not bad - but the eD is better. Definitely, the pair of 8" drivers it has are most likely bested by the 12" of the eD...

And aesthetics aside (yes, it does a great impression of a comatose hippo) - which might be the one category the DefTech does win, I'll grant you that - the choice I would make is the eD.

Recognize some things. This site loves Blu-ray, Onkyos, Polks, PS3
s, Plasmas and eD subs. It's not that any of those things are bad, but realize that will be the bulk of your answers regardless of what you put up against it.

Hey, you guys are very informative btw. I've been reading this forum for months and this is my first post (so be gentile). I don't mean to be critical, but after viewing hundreds of systems in the Community galleries, I don't think I've seen an eD sub pictured. What's the deal?

Cool. I was trying to gauge the scale of these massive subs. I, unfortunately, would be serving up alimony if I planted a 60+ lb. beast in my family room Hmmmm...

Set a nice placemat and plant on top of it and say it is a new type of air circulator or something.

Subwoofer

I measured the ProSub 800 subwoofer's bass limits with it set to maximum bandwidth and placed in the optimal corner of a 7,500-cubic-foot room. In a smaller room, you could expect 2 to 3 Hz deeper extension and up to 3 dB greater sound-pressure level (SPL).

The ProSub 800 will produce a true 25 Hz with less than 10% distortion (our benchmark), but with just 76 dB SPL output, suggesting limited low-frequency dynamic capability and bass uniformity. SPL capability falls at 21 dB per octave below 62 Hz. Maximum output, again with less than 10% distortion, was 103.7 dB at 62 Hz, and the sub averaged 95 dB from 25 to 62 Hz. The ProSub 800's 150-Hz upper frequency limit is well suited for mating with the small satellite speakers. In my sample, the variable crossover did not function.
16Hz at 83 dB for the eD...

It may be that the eD subs are just plain butt-ugly. I understand they sound terrific...but man, they are ugly.
