lol. funny. but seriously, the onkyo brand in itself is AWESOME! easy setup and great power. as for the 605 its great and all but i recommend the 705 if you want better sound. its THX certified...nuff said. oh and beginning with the 605, u can upconvert to 720p. of course you need hdmi =) hope i helped

TX-SR605

9/10 from me.

Only complaint is the heat, I have to keep my cabinet glass door open when I use it. Never had any issues though, just like to give it some air.

TX-SR705 sure is expensive.

Got my SR605 a couple of weeks ago and love it. Great value. The higher models have some other features that would have been nice (like another HDMI port and learning remote), but for $389 total, it's tough to beat. No other receiver in that price range can do what it does.

However, just last night, the down button on the remote stopped working. Going to need to contact Onkyo support for a replacement.

I liked the Audyssey (spelling?) process to calibrate it. Pretty cool.

Does the 605, 705 and the 805 have a TRUE HDMI 1.3a Catagory 2 Pass-Thru??
