Sony MOD releases (Non-Choice Collection)

Since WAC and the Universal mod line have threads I feel that the new Sony MOD, that isn't the Choice Collection, line should have it's own dedicated thread.

Note: These are not BD-Rs. All discs are pressed and region free.

MSRP on every one of these so far is $24.99

Discounts have been slim, but a couple recently. It will be interesting to see what deals if any show up over the next few non-holiday months and as the line matures a little.

Best price to date $14.99ea at BN 40% off sale the week leading into Christmas or better at $11.99 with the basic nonmember 20% off coupon that week. These were limited to store place ShiptoHome orders and weren't available through BN.com. The next usual 40% off sale is typically the week leading to Father's Day though usually 15% is the best coupons that week.


I think many of them were $15-17 at Blowitoutahere Ebay store during the last 20% off code which combined with the 15-20% off store discount

Bullmoose appears to have most of these for around $20 each. So far no tax outside Maine, FS around $30, and can accumulate Bonus points for future order

I haven't seen much below $20-22 on Deep Discount sales and virtually nothing on Amazon.

The discounts on WAC (MSRP 21.99 for most non-TV) are intermittent, but pretty decent and relatively frequent enough to plan for those who wait for sales -- the just ended WBShop 4/44, BN 40% off sales, Deep Discount and Blowitoutahere sale often have these priced around $11-13ea.

Universal MOD (MSRP mostly 21.99) have been available $13-14 fairly commonly via Deep Discount 15% deals and Bullmoose $16 pretty normal pricing.

More like -- if they want to sell a barebones $25 item then I'll wait for a sale and get what I want then -- at least the Sony titles often have an extra or 2 included so the extra $3-4 per title over Warner or Universal is worth it. So far I have around 16 of the items in the OP so I'm doing my part. So far I've not bought the re-releases other than Sleepless in Seattle (added to my TT and AUS) and Return of the Living Dead (added to my TT item). At least 8-10 more are in my wish list for June.

If they want me to spend $25 then these are going to have to show some effort to be the same price as a New Release BD/Digital or even a 4K/BD/Dig with Extras and perks

Or... you buy the tiles you really, really, really want now and wait for a sale to pick up some of the others.

I get that as a "blu-ray insider" you probably have a biased opinion, but not everyone can afford to spend frivolously on blu-rays non-stop, particularly if there are dozens of released from the myriad other labels you are interested in.

Excellent thread, plus the fact that the titles are region-free is very good news. There are several titles here that would be of interest to me, on top of The Heroes Of Telemark which I recently ordered.

Sony has already released (or licensed) on blu-ray most Columbia titles I'm interested in. I'm only missing THE MOUSE THAT ROARED (1959) and AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (1971).

Looking back, Sony's first attempt to create a MOD program was a total misfire.
The discs were overpriced, burned and not pressed, and the video and audio quality left a lot to be desired.
