HDi will never be on Blu-ray

It's too late to add it, and there's no point, since BDJ is far more robust

It would take too much to add another universally accepted addition to the format...so, no.

yeah i guess we are yet to see BD java's potential then. HDi was pretty well made though, it should be interesting to see what BD Java can do.
hopefully Paramount and Universal have no problem converting to BD java if its the case of not being able to use HDi on blu-ray

Why?
It was not better in any way or form and being tied to microsoft when you do not have to be is asinine

Microsoft has burned a lot of bridges with Hollywood over the format war. You will never see HDi used on Blu-rays. With HD DVD gone it will be of no use to anyone.

how about the VC-1 encoding, that was developed by Microsoft aswell. Blu-ray make that codec compatible with its players.

HDi should failed. I had problem getting to load on Disney HDi at Disneychannel.com, which is a Primary example.

It's bad enough the Blu-ray format already supports Microsoft's VC-1 (Windows Media) encoding format. It would be a bigger mistake for Internet Explorer browser extensions ("HDi") to filter into the format too.

Many of the consumer electronics companies and computing companies backing Blu-ray did so with the intention of keeping Microsoft from owning yet another medium of content delivery. A great deal of the technology in Blu-ray is open source and not subject to the greedy intentions of one company cornering the market.

As unethical as Microsoft has treated many companies in the past, including a lot of betrayed "partners," it's just too risky getting into bed with them. Microsoft constantly acts like they want to own the world. Too bad their practices are undermining their core markets. Vista was a flop. So was Zune. The hardware problems of XBox360 is turning into a marketing nightmare. MS is stacking up a nasty string of failures.

Perhaps if Microsoft would concentrate on properly developing products rather than taking over or destroying other companies they might start doing well again.

VC-1 was included in the spec though. HDi isn't.
