move the fireplace over by the left couch...
i dont really see an option (if your couch sizes and stuff are correct)
unless they put a couch infront of the back door (facing where the left couch is)and the other one below facing the firplace so it forms kind of a v with tv on left wall?
i dunno

yeah this room is a pain. one idea they thought of was to make a cutout in the mantel to fit the tv above the fireplace at a decent height. but i didn't think it was a good idea because they use their fireplace a lot and what do you do with wiring and you'd have to mount the tv on the brick into the chimney maybe. i don't know if these are real concerns though, i was just thinking.

The Table is gonna have to go and maybe the smaller couch. Move the larger couch with the back towards the porch. Get it as close as you can without the doors touching the couch.

The chair can go next to the larger couch at an angle.

Now you have a wall for HDTV, Speakers, subwoofer and stand for your audio equip.

Room dimensions would help a lot more. Right now everything we are saying is speculation. Also, what are THEY willing to sacrifice/compromise in order to get a new setup?

Additionally, have they given you an idea on what equipment they would like in this new setup?

is it dangerous to put a tv over the fireplace? they do like to use it.

also there are some slots through the brick for some sort of ventilation or air intake or something. the tv would be blocking these slots. i don't really know much about frieplaces or chimneys.

they plan on getting at least a blu-ray player to go with it. maybe a receiver and speakers.
