Default Sub Placement

Trying to find the best sub placement in my room. Here a quick diagram of my room. Ceiling is vaulted in the middle to about 12 feet. Have tried several placements and can't seem to find that perfect sweet spot.

a very simple way to find the best place is whats called the crawl test. Take your sub and place it in your primary seating position and put on something with alot of base. Then crawl around your room so that your ears are at the same height as in you seating postion. Wherever the bass is the loudest will be the best spot for your sub.

The subwoofer crawl applies to one subwoofer. The OP has two subwoofers.

To the OP:
Other positions that might be appropriate for two subwoofers are:
1. Put one sub in the front corner, a couple of feet away from the wall. Put the second sub near your primary listening position on the side or behind you. Adjust their levels very carefully. The sub up front can give you deep low frequency bass sound and sub near you can give you upper frequency bass sound.
2. Use the crawl technique to find a good place for the first sub. This is called the high pressure zone. Place the second sub in a low pressure zone.
3. Try all positions in the diagrams in Post #2.

Subwoofer crawl Technique for Two Subs: Move your subwoofer to the primary listening position. Play some music with deep bass sound or test tones. Walk or crawl around the room, preferably with an SPL meter, and mark all locations where you hear the loudest bass sound. Those locations are the best places for one of your subs. Also mark all locations where the bass sound is very low. Those may be a good place for the second sub.

Trust Big Daddy, he is spot on about suggestion #1 or #2. I did the sub-crawl and now have them set-up as he suggests in #1. Big difference than what I had previously.

I'm starting to lean towards going the 2 sub route.

Take into consideration that you may need 1 or even 2 long RCA audio cables to give you the flexibility to move the subs around to find the best placement. Getting a second sub was one of the best decisions I made in regards to my audio needs.

I watched the sub crawl video in BD post. It mentioned moving the chair and placing the sub in its spot. Do you get the same result if I just set it on my couch?

Any suggestions on bass heavy sounds. Not my normal choice of music.

If you raise your subwoofer, you may get much better output out of the sub.

Move the chair and put it on the floor if that is the place you normally place your subwoofer. If you plan to put your subwoofer on a riser, then put it on the sofa.

I actually believe the opposite is true. If the sub will eventually be placed on the floor, you want to place the sub in the listening position, higher up, at ear level if possible. Than crawl and listen/measure with your ears/spl meter down lower at the eventual sub level.
