Default Late Night with Conan O'Brien - Final Week

So this is the final week of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, been watching the show for a long time, big fan and despite knowing he's moving up to the tonight show this week still seems bittersweet. Great show, lots of great moments, so let's get to it, discuss!

Favourite moments (YouTube links?) or just general discussion about the show.

Anyone been watching this week? He's been destroying the set with an axe since NBC is throwing it away and then handing the scraps to audience members which has been pretty funny, I'm eager to see how much more goes haha.

Seems as though they retired the Masturbating Bear last night.

Wednesday: Nathan Lane
Thursday: Jerry Seinfeld
Friday: The White Stripes

A little sad to be honest. I remember checking the show out the first week it aired. It took a little time to jell but those early years with Andy Richter were pure gold. I expect the show to be tone downed in the 11:30 timeslot. NBC should have given Conan the slot years ago.

The Masturbating Bear bit last night was awesome. My wife and I have always loved that bear . The whole reference to Han solo and freezing him in carbonite was great and then when carrie fisher came out was the icing on the cake.

I didn't watch him that much. Even from the few times I did I could tell he was hilarious not to mention a pretty cool guy.

I may be a little optimistic here but I think he can beat letterman. Conan is king of late night. Letterman is a close second.

That is definitely one of the funniest things to air on television in the last twenty years.

For those who didn't see it last night, Conan actually played the Triump / Attack of the Clones thing during his monologue.

I don't get it, why is this news? Isn't this just Conan and Leno both shifting forward and hour and getting a name change?

Whatever, for me it means a free up of a DVR slot.

Sort of, but I imagine Conan's Tonight Show will be quite a bit different than what he's currently doing. Bigger audience, bigger guests, and probably a shift in the humor, because some stuff Conan does at 12:30 (like the m-bating bear) won't make it to an 11:30 show.

I rarely watch Leno or Kimmel.
I kind of like them all in their own way.

Leno seems like a nice guy, and generally sticks to clean humor.

Letterman can be a bit grating, but he probably gives the best interview of the five.

Ferguson has surprisingly gotten pretty funny, particularly in his monologue.

Conan has some of the best/most random skits, but the maturity level of his humor gets a bit tiring after a while.

Kimmel seems like a normal person, and the least professional, which is why he's sometimes funny (like the I'm F-ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck videos, or him asking Obama if he showers with his friend after basketball games).

More or less. Initially Leno was done (retired) and Conan would be moving up so that woulda been a much more noticeable difference. However, now Leno is at 10pm and Conan at 11:30pm so it's less of a change, but Conan going to LA from NYC after 16 years has turned into something of a TV event tonight and for the past week or so.

He's had alot of random cameos (including many more tonight, according to Twitter). Plus the White Stripes are performing which has triggered some buzz. I'm planning my evening around being home for 12:30, how sad is that?! I've been a fan of his show for awhile, I'm just hoping it doesn't change too too much for the earlier slot, so tonights has a bit of an ending feel to it.

I'd imagine Andy Richter and Al Roker would make an appearance too.

I loved the fake satellite channels, especially the Lincoln Money Shot Channel. Conan is my favorite late night show host. I have been a fan for many years. I just dont understand why the show couldnt air earlier without leaving NY. To me O'Brien is a NY staple and shouldve stayed in NY.
