Post Halo 3 on two discs. Ha!

It appears that the 360 is already proving wrong what many say tht there is no need for bluray disc video games. Apparently Halo 3 is going to be on two discs due to maxed out capacity.

Response as follows from someone:

"Check Bungie's website, they have posted the truth about the 2 discs. The game is still only on one disc. The other disc is an interactive styled bonus feature disc. MS made a mistake in labelling it a "Game Disc two" Just go to www.bungie.net and read the weekly update for yourselves."

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.a...news&cid=12531

The Collector’s Edition picture erroneously shows that it ships with a Bonus Content disc and a Game Two disc. Incorrect. It’s a mistake at MS’ end and we’re updating retailers with the correct image. The “Game Disc 2” shown in the art actually refers to an interactive Bonus Content disc. It’s an Xbox “executable” (think of it like a menu-driven disc, similar to the Official Xbox Magazine cover disc) and internally, has always been referred to as “Game Disc 2” because it has to go through the same certification process as Halo 3 itself. That was somehow communicated to MS retail marketing verbatim. Hence the error. No big deal.

Bonus disc or not it could all have fit on one Blu-ray BD-ROM.

Halo doesn't need a second disc because there's crap for a single player mode. It'd be sad if they needed more than 1 DVD for a non-MMO online game.

It's sad they are using double the resources for their products. We are talking about tons of material.

I hope Blu stops the same practice so we can say it is a more environmentally conscious format. We can do it in one, they can't.

well soon or later the games need more capacity, xbox cant run from it.
more capacity = better quality in HD / more gamedetails, bigger levels/maps ect. i think in 2 years you cant get the best games on DVD capacity.

this is when they will have a BD add-on and make their games playable on it ala what sega did with the CD add-on and the 32x or whatever it was called...I completely forget now...

Default you know what they will not be able to run from

think about this..when the next xbox system comes out do they stick with DVD or have no optical drive installed. sony and microsoft both have ideas on backward compatability.

I personaly think SONY has a much more consumer friendly standing on backward compatability than microsoft. that why i have stuck with SONY I own an xbox but after what microsoft did with backward compatability. unless microsoft show's more commitment in support for their system i see no reason personaly to buy one.
and this stance on HD fomats further prove who is realy looking out for the consumer. yes they are also lineing their pockets. but hey that's why they are in the industry. and thats SONY AND THE REST OF THE BDA.

Microsoft will abandon all the 360 users when their next console is released, just like how the stopped making games for the Xbox when the 360 was released.. who could trust or invest in a company like that? Sony never abandoned their PS2 gamers and are continually creating new games for the PS2... what is MS going to do with the next Xbox? They'll have to decide on what optical format they'll use because they'll know that they need more capacity in storage space... By that time Blu will have won this format war and MS will have to admit defeat and go with Blu or another alternative.. haha...

Microsoft believes in a shorter lifespan for the consoles than most of the other developers.

That said, there may be some merit to the idea.

Stop selling the console when production costs have gotten to where you actually make a profit on the hardware...

The game runs in 720p, there's no reason it can't fit in 8GB.

MS killed XBox 1 when it served its purpose as a market research tool, to go onto the 360 that would actually make a profit for them. 360 and PS3 both will have 8 year lifespans minimum.

If 360 business continues to lose money for them like the original Xbox there's no reason to believe they wouldn't drop it just like the Xbox.

All they've proven is that they'll drop a financially unsuccessful machine.

I think the 360 will have a shorter life span..shorter than even the xbox 1..MS wants to be in between cycles and not to be in lockstep with the current cycle with Sony and Nintendo...the 360 was a stopgap product to achieve part of that strategy while they build their real next gen and "leap" ahead .. they want more frequent upgrades .. so the 360 running out of steam before the PS3 dovetails with them having a reason to introduce a console sooner rather than later..in order to "catch" up.

Their problem is Cell makes it more feasible for Sony to shorten the cycle in response by adding just Cell chips to the current design.. something MS would dearly love to do..but sticking 6 or 9 PPC's in a xbox720 doesn't sound so inviting to anyone.. except maybe IBM.

The xbox720 will look an awful lot similar to the Cell..and moving to the PPC architecture (dev tools etc) this time around was the first part of that longer term plan to get to something similar.

That's why the 360 feels like an xbox 1.5...it had a particular purpose.

Mark this post for future reference .

Not true, I hear the single player campaign is actually shaping up to be really good this time. And I've been playing the beta for Halo 3 and it kicks some serious ass. And to the peole that say they MS abandonded the original Xbox, it was time to move on to a next-generation console.

All those PS2 buyers disagree .

Well then your going to absolutely love Warhawk..the original Halo was the game I've played the most..by far..Halo 2 - meh, sucked even.

Warhawk is the most fun I've ever had with any game..if all games were this good I'd be on-line all the time. Everyone that has played at our place can't put the damn thing down. It' seriously addictive like no other game I've played - not even the original Halo - and I was addicted to it for quite some time..
