Default Holy Crap Kuro Price!!!!!!!!

Hey, i just figured i would let you guys know that the $1999 price for the 5020 at BB, well it's over... I just checked the website and bam...$3499, i saw on the avsforum that BB bought up the remaining stock of 5020's, and if this is true i would bet they won't be doing a lot of bargaining on these set's unless they stop selling completely..

Yeah, I went to the Best Buy site a little while ago and I was completely blown away by the price increases. They did the same thing with the Panny's too. Worst Buy obviously doesn't want to sell many TV's because the prices are through the roof. I get the feeling that they're trying to push more of the LED sets out the door, because the sale prices seem to have held steady on those. Just the other night they had the 50" 111FD Elite for $2500 if I remember right, and now its $4500! They have the 60" 141FD for $7000!!! WTF!!

more than likely supply and demand. the pioneers are now longer going to be made, the low prices and the fact they will not be around much longer meant people were snapping them up all over the place...best buy know they will still sell at the inflated prices and have raised them because of this. That's just how business works

My Best Buy has a hard time selling certain TV's. Some open box units have been there for years. (I go to visit a nice 60" SXRD RP when I'm there maybe someday it will just be gone .)

The in store price may be lower in BB. I was recently in there and the online price was $4500 while the in store price was $3000 for the Elite 111.

Simply don't go by the online price. Sometimes you have to walk in and see the product and you would be amazed by the price. Also keep your eyes open because week by week the pioneer prices go up one week, then back done. You'll be able to get a good deal at Best Buy believe me. I was able to get a 50 inch Elite for $1899.99 brand new in th box.

It just depends on the manager of the store and how you come across in the store.

No.

The elites will be available until the end of the year. Pioneer has PLENTY of WIP (work in process) to support the volume on these. Scarcity in supply should hit sometime around October or so.

Look online if you want to see the real market prices of these televisions. Sometimes BB has good deals going. Most of the time, you pay a premium for buying in a brick/mortar store. For many people, the extra money is worth it as they need the handholding that a store can give them.

Plus...if no one bought from physical stores, where would be be able to go and see these units live and in living color?

Prices usually change on Sundays so the in-store price may different now. I was in a Best Buy last night too and the 5020FD was $1999. The 111FD was like $2500 but its $4500 now, and the 6020FD was like $4600. Its $5500 now! They also had the 65" 800U for $5000 and now its $6000 on the site. Its crazy. They dropped the price of the 60" LG to $2400, but the 50" is $2500?!! WTF! Worst Buy is just that...THE WORST!

Best Buy is good to buy from but you have to know what you are doing. I got the Kuro 111 for $3500 and then it jumped back to $5000 then $4500, then $3500, then $5000 etc. etc. The last low price was $2500 and then it jumps around. They are probably testing the price points to see the highest price they can sell it. If people are still going to pay $4500 they will sell it at that price. I would suggest keep checking on a weekly basis and grab one when it drops to $2500 again.

You can bargain. I walked into Best Buy when the price tag was changed back to $5000 and got them to sell me the Kuro for $3500. You also have to stay focused on the TV. They will try and sell you other things to go with it. I charged the TV on AE card and got another year of warranty for a total of 3 years warranty. No expensive service contract was necessary.

I anticipate the Kuro 151 to eventually come down to $4000 or below but if they can get people to buy them now at $5000 to $6000 they will try to sell them at these prices. My area warehouse has 81 151s. This is a 2008 model and the 2010 models should be coming in 6 months. They need to clear these 151s out eventually. I may consider getting a Kuro 151 when it dips below $4000.

My suggestion - wait for $2500 for Kuro 111 or $3900 for 151 at Best Buy. I don't think they will run out before these price points; if they do then get next year's generation of plasma which should be just as good for less money.

Yeah, but Pioneer isn't coming out with 2010 models.

Or any 2009 models. The 111/151 and 101/141 are the last North American models Pioneer will produce, and apparently they stopped production in April, concentrating on selling their present stock.

The point is that Best Buy doesn't want 81 2008 model tvs in their warehouse regardless of brand if they can stock them with newer 2009 and 2010 models of other brands that will move faster.

I predict clearance prices before the end of the year for the 151 Kuro. The 111 Kuro has already been cut to 50% of original list price several times already.

I've see pricing on the Pro-151fd jump up and down all over the place recently. The key factor: do them have 'em in stock!

Most dont.

Also, I have a dealer friend of mine that is, shall we say, overstocked in certain products (Pro141; pro515, pro111) and would like to unload them.

5-Star rated and all that.

Since I can't post a link (at least I don't think I can), send me a PM and I'll send you a link to their page. I know the Kuro 151FD was IN STOCK and selling for around $5500).

Dave

My local Sam's Club has the 5010 for $1499.But,i will probably wait,i really want something a little bigger.Does anybody know, does Sam's carry b stock or refurbished tv's?I was just curious,i would think they should have the 5020,but maybe these are leftover.I've heard some pros and cons about both sets,as far as which one is better.
