Default Question about 3-D in the future

I know 3D is only out in the movie theaters and has not reached the home cinema yet.

Can/Will there be new 3D versions of already existing Blu-ray movie be made. ie; can there be a 3D version of Casino Royale on BD down the road or does it have to be a movie that was shot in 3D?

theres 3d movies on bluray. Journey to the Center of the Earth and My Bloody Valentine... and No to your second question, which is why Journey to the Center of the Earth comes with a 3d disk and a 2d disk..

1. Movies that have been released in 3D on home video using anaglyph technology(red/blue or purple/green glasses): Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Coraline, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, The Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience, Friday The 13th Part 3 3-D (all these on Blu-Ray), Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (DVD only), The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl (DVD only) and Amityville 3-D (UK DVD only).

2. Companies are working right now on bringing the better, stereoscopic 3D technology (with uniform colorless glasses) to home video, which will mean new TVs and possibly new players which will be available by the end of 2010. To work with this technology any 3D film previously released will have to be re-released with the new technology in mind.

3. Yes 3D can be applied to films that weren't originally conceived in 3D, this is a post process conversion which the studio can invest in. Disney and Warner Bros. are the ones that have done this the most. some sequences of Superman Returns and Harry Potter 5 and 6 had scenes converted to 3D for IMAX, while Chicken Little, The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D and Meet The Robinsons where all converted to 3D after the fact. Additionally Disney is re-releasing Toy Story 1 & 2 as well as The Beauty & The Beast next year, all newly converted to 3D and all the Star Wars movies will at some point get a 3D treatment when George Lucas is satisfied with the technology.

4. For all the films you can expect to hopefully have a proper 3D home video release at some point, look no further than here.

Hope this helps!
