Well, I have been wanting to use the HDMI cable with the PC for a long while now, and I finally got a DVI to HDMI connection going, but when I hook the HDMI connection to my TV it sees that there is something there but it doesn't find the signal.
So anyone have any hints? Maybe I am doing something wrong? If you could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. |

You don't need HDCP if you're just using an HDTV as a monitor*, unless you're playing Blu-ray on your PC with a HDCP-compliant video card and HDTV.
*=I'm not 100% sure on that, though. Your HDTV **MIGHT** need an HDCP-compliant video card to make that "handshake' when using the HDMI cable. But I don't see why you need HDCP when HDMi is just DVI from your PC. |

Hmm, well I am using a HDCP Compliant card and I have a monster DVI attached to the card with the HDMI Cable hooked from that to the TV. I cannot get a signal when windows is loaded. But when I restart the computer, I can see the BIOS and all boot screens fine. But as soon as windows gets to the log on screen, the signal is lost.
I read into it a bit but nothing is helping. I am running Windows Vista Basic at the moment and a Samsung DLP TV. I am thinking this may be a problem with the TV or maybe just a resolution problem. But I work for Sony and use many of the TVs we have to test this same setup like I have here, and it works on all of our Rear Projections LCDs and our Flat Panel TVs. This is going to bug me to no end. :\ Any help is appreciated thanks in advance. |

Try to match your TV's native res (usually 16:9 720p or 1080p).

Thanks for the help guys. For some reason I had the cable hooked up and it never detected it but when I re-installed the same driver version I always had on here it finally noticed the cable. It plays my blu-ray movies now without a stutter like it did when I was using my VGA hook-up. Now the only thing I need to do is figure out how to make the damn thing show my start menu and such. It has a cutoff around the screen the size of the start menu. If you have any ideas on how to fix that it would help. I know there has to be some way to fix it.
Thanks for all the help guys. |
