Default Questions about Direct Tv

Ok i have always had comcast cable. When we first moved into this home dish network was already hooked up so we had it for about a week...I dunno what it was maybe the placement of the dish?? they had it instead of hanging off my house they had it posted in the ground on a metal pole so maybe that was the problem i dunno...But the dish would constantly go out...I called dish and they said it was probably weather conditions near the signal because it was fine here...I got it turned off and went back to comcast cable and internet....No problems ever with the service...Well i am paying 140 dollars for cable and hd/dvr and high speed internet...

I keep getting letters from direct tv saying 29.99 til 2011...and i dunno what there internet package is like...I want to cut some of my costs...but i want to enjoy what i have...Alot of ppl say direct tv is good and reliable...just looking for peoples opinion and how is there internet service....Just wondering about possibly crossing over to direct tv from comcast....only due to cost cutting...i like comcasts services over all....never had direct.

Thanks for any info

DirecTV is very reliable. As an example, their uplink facility has its own power plant so it can operate indefinitely in the event of a power failure. There is the problem of "rain fade", but as long as you have a clear signal, it takes a very heavy rain for you to lose signal momentarily.
DirecTV does not offer Internet services themselves, but may bundle services such as AT&T DSL (which is what I use).

Default Directv

If you are paying that price for cable + internet, you must have Comcast's top package. The $29 pkg from Directv is NOT the top pkg. It is basic. No HD. No premium channels. Not all of the national channels. If you want the same package that you are getting from Comcast, you'll pay approximately the same price. But you'll STILL have to get your internet from Comcast. And, yes, Directv is subject to rain fade, just as DISH is.

Default Dish Network/Wild Blue internet

I have Dish Network/Wild Blue internet service and have been very happy. During Hurricane Ike I never lost my internet or TV signal and the storm came right over the house. Was without a phone for a week so was glad I did not have DSL although DSL is faster than satellite, ATT does not offer DSL in my area and there are not any cable companies around either. I have the top package and don't have any problem connecting my Blu-ray player to netflix and downloading movies. My neighbor has Direct and also downloads netflix to their Blu-ray player, but they did lose internet during the storm. I have a full house generator so did not lose power in case anyone was wondering. Over a week without power if I had not had that. I am just north of Houston, TX

I have had both Dish and DirecTV and I must say DirecTV is better IMO. They bundle with Verizon and Qwest. Cable is the worst!

It depends on your area as DirecTV outsources the internet. In my area it's Qwest and they are on my black list as they will only give my 1.5Mb yet send me offers to upgrade to 7Mb all the time.

I hate you Qwest.

On whole I've been pretty happy with DirecTV and I've had Comcast, Dish, and now DirecTV and I must say they have been the best of the three.

I've been in the same exact situation and agree 100%.

I went from Dish to Comcast to DirecTV and could not be any happier. Well, maybe a little bit more, but I'm good enough for now.
