Default Apocalypto's low score

ok, i'm not sure how it got a 5.0 overall, if you gave the movie a 4, picture a 9, sound a 9 and extras a 7, wouldn't the overall score be somewhere around a 7 after u factor all that in, your supposed to be reviewing a blu ray movie, not a movie..and as a blu ray movie, this should've scored higher than a 5 even if you didn't like the actual movie..i use this and casino royale as demo material to show how great blu ray is.. the review sounds like he hates mel gibson but has to admit the PQ and AQ are great, but not good enough to recommend?

Because the reviewer thought the movie was poor.

10/10 PQ/AQ doesn't matter if the movie is crap.

I like Apocalypto and would have rated it higher myself. On the other hand, I felt the reviewer may have had a point about only showing the negative side of the Mayan culture.

I think Gibson & Co. were trying to portray how extremely tough life was in general for those people back then, not just the man's cruelty to man aspect. To me the more unforgivable sin was showing the Spaniards arriving about 600 years too early. And having a full moon only hours after a total eclipse of the sun.

Anyway, I would give the movie an 8 because I like it in spite of its flaws. And technically it is fantastic, and it fits my screen with no bars - yay!
