Painting walls for home theatre bedroom

Im going to be redocorating my bedroom, where i have all my gear such as ps3 and sky hd and im going to try and paint the wall behind the tv grey, as i heard this improves the perceived quality of the picture when backlighting is used.

I was thinking about stripping off the current textured wallpaper, filling any holes from old shelving that has been taken down and putting up a lining paper and painting that, would this be a good way of getting a nice smooth finish to the walls?

Also these are the colours im going to use, what do you think? The first one is the darker colour for the wall behind the tv and other colour is for the rest of the room.
