Default WiFi to a sony 370?

just got the new sony Bd-370. its wifi ready but you need a wireless adapter, so i went out and bought one. Picked up a linksys by cosco wireless usb adapter. well i plug it in and the screen reads "does not support this device" so my question is, is there a special one to buy or should this be working? or do i have to buy the sony one on their webpage(that would be bull) thanks

Well, the manual says:

Quote:
Turn off the player, then connect the USB Wireless LAN Adapter (UWA-BR100 only available as of January 2010) to the USB jack on the front or rear of the player.
So I think it's safe to say you need their adapter. How else can they get more money out of you? I dare to guess that other manufacturers do the same exact thing.

yea i just read "only" part. pure BS i was better off getting the top of the line model. $80 is ridiculous for an adapter. sony makes no damn sense. well thank you, and i just got done shelling out 85 bucks for this bad boy, it better work good.

I was going to say that but I decided not to try to add salt to your wounds.

For some odd reason the USB lan adapters do not work. They are basically for a flash drive. You need the wireless bridge by I think linksys and netgear both have one and cost upwards of 100 or more. Always better to spend the 40-50 more on a different player to get the built in wi-fi....

I have a bad taste with Sony. You should always buy a player with built in wifi (if your going to use the wifi). After you buy what you need for a wifi ready player, you spent the same amount as a player with wifi and sometimes more.....
