Hi,
This may be a dumb question, but can you back up data on a Bluray disc? I just bought a burner here in Japan, but the software is all in Japanese and the upgrade option for nero 7 just unistalled my previous version and is refusing to install itself... I know BD is for HD movies (I had to buy a burner 'cause I also bought an HD video camera and have a lot of files to burn) But I also wanted to backup some files to a disk... is this possible and if yes, what software can do it? Thanks |

Yes!
Roxio 9 will burn just about anything to a Blu-ray disc. http://www.roxio.com/ Cyberlink also has software that will burn data to BD: http://www.cyberlink.com/english/tec..._gen/index.jsp I just wish blank media would come down in price... |

I have Cyberlink on my desktop (Sony BWU-100a) and Roxio on my Dell M1710 notebook and have used both BD-RE 25 (single layer) and 50 (double layer) and both work great.

I'm spamming all the treads concerning burning applications with the same question so don't be too upset with me...
Do they support Multithreading? |

While my drive does have two lasers I'm pretty sure that burning a DVD can only use one laser at a time. Please explain what you mean by Multithreading. Thanks. |

Ok, it's a software thing... how will multithreding help with a burning program?
It can't force faster burning, it won't make the burn... better looking. And for the record Nero is junk! Roxio or Cyberlink is far better. Ulead will eat Nero! ![]() |

![]() and i know maximum pc magazine uses nero trans coding as a test because it it uses systems to it fullest and if u are burn data straight to a disc then muilty threading dosent matter untill we have 12x burners and we burning so much data |

Thanks for the feedback guys, I've been away from the forums for a bit but I appreciate the reply's. Currently I'm using sonic, but there have been some issues with burning, I can't get into too many specifics but multithreading is important to what we're using BD's for, its not just for single discs either

I saw something on slashdot a week or two ago saying that there was some decision, either in the process fo being finalized of already finished, that would allow owners of BD and HD movies to make a certain number of back-ups of their purchased content. I'm not exactly sure of the specifics but you should be able to find the article by searching for Blu-ray in their achives.

AnyDVD HD & DVDFab Platinum. DVDFab will rip & burn in itself, AnyDVD HD rips and Roxio or Ulead will burn. |

I have not used Disk Juggler but I believe that Disk Juggler supports Blu Ray as well.
