USA New on Blu-ray, Week of 3/30/2010

Quote:
While Sherlock Holmes – out today on Blu-ray – isn't a perfect representation of the fictional detective who became so popular in the late 1800's, it is closer than many would expect. He may not have been as suave as Guy Ritchie's updated character, but the original Holmes was an active brawler and admitted user of both tobacco and cocaine. With help from yet another memorable performance by Robert Downey Jr., Sherlock Holmes went on to achieve moderate success and added another chapter to the detective's already impressive library.

In the Blu-ray review of Sherlock Holmes, staff reviewer Ken Brown commented, "Ritchie loads his snarky reinvention of Sherlock Holmes with enough fierce wit, searing action, charming characters, and keen intellect to fill an entire trilogy, yet manages to prevent the film from growing unwieldy and toppling over." He continued, "Warner's Blu-ray release is just as memorable, granting fans a striking video transfer, an excellent DTS-HD Master Audio mix, and an engaging Maximum Movie Mode track, all of which amounts to a high-quality release sure to grab hold of anyone willing to place their trust in Ritchie's able hands."

For those who haven't had enough of those high-pitched rodents, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are back in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. As someone who remembers the original cartoons, these movies move far from what made the show so appealing to kids. Of course, they seem to be a hit with the new generation, so maybe I'm just having a bit of nostalgia withdrawl. Anyway, you're kids are probably demanding it, and Fox makes the Blu-ray an easy purchase by also including a DVD.

My only want is Ouran High School Host Club the Complete Series. Besides I have like 3 or 4 video games that come out tomorrow that I really want so can't really afford to really buy anything else.

I like this sticky.

I think a poll of what people are buying would be a good addition....

I did buy The Killer on Blu Ray but I plan on returning it today. Supposedly the DVD version is better, so I'll be trying to find that. Other than that nothing.
