I've been reading editorials everywhere indicating that Blu-ray 3D will be here this year. Full HD 1080p 3D sounds pretty awesome. What's not so exciting is that companies are requiring everyone to repurchase compatible components. I have a PS3 and read that it will be ready to receive the hardware update, saving the expense of going out and buying another player BUT then there's the TV problem. And no one's saying whether current LCD/LED or Plasma sets will in fact be compatible. So people just buying TVs will have to fork over more cash in a year to have 3D? Not cool. Also, not only are we talking about new players and TVs , but we're also talking new HDMI 1.4 cables! I think this is getting too ridiculous too soon; after tallying all that new hardware up, I have to question whether such a major expense justifies the upgrade. And then we have 2k x 4k along with OLED on the distant horizon as well.... Anyone have the inside scoop on this?
