Default Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: New Release, New Pressing

According to VideoETA, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon has been scheduled to be released on July 27th. It looks like it's been pushed back and that it was never released to very many stores a few weeks back:

The hell is taking so long. Not like they're doing any video/audio remastering, or adding new stuff?

Just get the UK version from Amazon.co.uk already. It's $17.50 shipped to the US from them and is completely compatible with US stand-alones and PS3.

What for? Since it's now going to be coming to the United States, I can wait until July.

Looks like I spoke too soon.

From Digital Bits This new edition will feature all the extras of the original Blu-ray release along with an all-new commentary by cinematographer Peter Pau. The disc will also include new Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio mixes in Chinese (Mandarin), English and French.

So looks like the wait was worth it. Sucks for people who bought the set for this movie.

Here's the full details:

Quote:
Sony has announced a new Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Blu-ray for release on 7/27 (SRP $24.95). This new edition will feature all the extras of the original Blu-ray release (including audio commentary with Ang Lee and James Schamus, the Unleashing the Dragon: The Making of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and A Conversation with Michele Yeoh featurettes and the photo montage) along with an all-new commentary by cinematographer Peter Pau. The disc will also include new Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio mixes in Chinese (Mandarin), English and French. The previous Blu-ray had uncompressed PCM 5.1 and standard Dolby Digital 5.1 only.
It's a new remastered version. HOORAY!!!

The information I posted is accurate. That comes from The Digital Bits.com.

That information isn't completely correct. The original releases, in both US trilogy pack and UK had TrueHD. They are simply adding a commentary. There was about 15gb of free space on the original releases, so plenty of room for it. Video and audio encodes should be identical.

The main issue I hope to see corrected are the English subtitles. US trilogy pack and UK releases had a slightly dubbed down and less eloquent translation compared to the theatrical subs.
