Default I've just realized I have bad banding problems.

The t.v. is about one year old, and I have a 5 year warranty with futureshop, the only problem is they will take it for like 6 weeks and try to fix it. Do you think I can maybe trade it in towards a different t.v, even though it's a year old.

It has always bugged me but I never knew what it was until just recently. I have been doing alot of research and apparently the sharp aquos t.v's have had major problems with banding. So anyways that's my situation.

I wish my Aquos would crap out on me..... BB would give us the receipt value in trade if it couldn't be fixed..... 37" 720p, $2,000 Got the 4 year in-home warranty deal.... it was given to us as a gift, I would have never paid that much for a t.v., let-alone a Sharp

If you send it for repair, you will be able to "barrow" another TV from them (I did the same thing with a receiver a couple of years ago). You just have to tell them that you want a tv during those six weeks!

Also, if they cannot fix the problem you can trade it for a different tv but they have to classified it as a problem. If they fix it but then you still have the same problem, then you can return and complain. Basically, if they do 3 major repairs to the tv, they will trade it for a new one. You can always speak with the manager after the first repair if it's the same thing.

All in all, you paid for the extended warranty so if I were you I would try to get this fixed in the meantime when your tv is away you can test drive a new tv

yeah i just went into the service menu and went to the grey patterns, it has faint black streaks throughout. vertically and horizontaly. i can't beleive i noticed this so long ago but am just figuring out now that it's a defect. after tax and the warranty and getting ripped off on hdmi cables i paid close to 3000 dollars for this tv. im so glad i got the warranty.
this t.v is now on sale for $1199.00 which is $1100 cheaper than less than a year ago.

im not mad about this because it is a good learning experience.

I was sold a 57" sharp aquos and told that it was a 1080p tv. After having it for two months I discovered that it couldn't accept 1080p over the HDMI and the only way it could is if 1080p was one day broadcast over the air, which it won't be anytime soon.

When I called magnolia hifi they tried arguing with me for about 5 minutes until they realized that they were gonna end up with the worst of it when my receipt also listed the tv as 1080p. They knew they were guilty of consumer fraud. so a few days later they replaced it with a 52' xbr3 and I couldn't be happier.

The first time I saw the XBR I was pissed at myself for putting up with the sharp for so long.

Good luck!

If you can bring something to support your inquiry (like a video of the banding issue or demonstrating it to them), I think it would be the best. The more precise the description of the problem the more chance you have that they will actually fix it! (just a suggestion).
