The same gentleman that I had told you about yesterday had gone into a Circuit City by him in L.I., and he had was misdirected so to speak. He had asked to view their Blu-Ray players and the associate who worked there steered him towards the HD-DVD players. They thought that he was some Joe Smoe and couldn't tell the difference. My question is why would they be doing that unless $ is going around paying people off? We have Target behind us so is Toshiba doing the same with Circuit City?

Personal preference I would believe. Its the same with you. If someone came in asking you about HDdvd, you would no doubt steer them toward Blu ray. I would to. The CC employee probably just likes HD so thats where he takes people. KInda sad.

If this indeed ends up being the case what the hell are we suppose to do for the average folks who don't know the difference between the two? |

Best Buy is much better then CC...
If Best Buy is peddling Bluray over HD-DVD, I have a feeling that we are in much better shape.... For media and overall hardware sales between the two Best Buy destroys CC in almost every way possible.. The CCs around here a joke compared to the Best Buys. |

That is actually correct. Originally I believe they were only supposed to cary Blu-Ray, then all of a sudden (surprise surprise) HD-DVD started showing up. Even the sales person that I normally talked to there every Tuesday (until he got fired for that stupid salary situation that made the news a few months back) told me about it. He said they were really only supposed to have Blu there, and now they started randomly getting in HD-DVD's. Very funny how all this happens...

Something tells me that the sales person should not be working at Curcit City if he/she does not know the difference between Blu Ray and HD DVD. Was I the only one who thought that, I am going to wager no. That is very

Not sure what you are getting at. Toshiba computers have long been carried in CC stores. I know, I bought a $2K Qosmio G25 2 years ago from CC. |

No it is not a conspiracy. It is simple. First, Best Buy is fully noncommission (I know I work there part time). So we only care about what best suits the customers' needs. Almost always that's blu-ray. I have yet to sell an HD DVD myself (I would feel bad taking somebodies money for one. I could crap in a shoe box and it would be worth the same as a HD-A20). Circuti City is commissioned. If there are running an internal squib program (get an extra 3% over commission for the sale of an HD DVD) the employees will try to trick into buying one just to get a little extra dough.

All of this back and forth and pay-offs are making me sick to my stomach. I mean if this ends up being confirmed it could have some type of impact on Blu-Ray. I mean it could end up being significant or insignificant but I am hoping this is simply an isolated case.

Ever since CC closed some underperforming stores, the remaining stores that I often patronize seem to have better cust. srvc and sales all of a sudden. |

Sales people can be influenced by the commission structure as well. (I don't know the specifics for C.C. and is talking in general. )
There are places out there where the commission is based on what you sold (versus flat rate across all products). So money influences decisions at all levels. |

Lmao Well, lets hope people end up being smarter than these employees think we are. I know when I when I go to buy my stand alone player I will be going right to CC in Yonkers and see what kind of nonsense they try to pull with me. |

btw no cc is comission anymore. so that's not why. altho despite no comissions there could be spiffs. I know when sony samsung did spiffs for their tvs last holiday season for just a month I got a extra 1150. it was nice. 250 for the 60xbr. got only 350 from sammy cus I don't sell as many of those.
