Any problems using a 7200 RPM drive on a PS3? I know the pre-installed drive is 5400 RPM and just want to make sure there are no issues with replacing it with a 7200RPM model. I don't see why there would be, but... better to be on the safe side.

If you want to use 7200, go with an external drive.

Check the specs...depending on the model that's not necessarily the case...the newer 7200 models are more efficient than the older 5400 models etc..sure I read a review somewhere on one of the 7200 models that it was the same. Check around .. don't forget they also want to sell them to be used as replacement in laptops ...which also have heat tolerances..

I seriously doubt it. NTFS is the standard Windows file system. Developed by Microsoft. I doubt they're going to give Sony permission to use it. Plus, FAT is much more compatible. It'll work with pretty much anything.

There are step by step instructions in the online PS3 manual I believe...either that or it's in the small manual that comes with the system. I can't remember anymore.
Either way, ya it's really easy, if you want to keep everything from the old hard drive, you can backup the entire thing to an external drive temporarily but that means you need to have another external HDD. If it's just game saves you care about, just save them to a USB Flash Drive. |
