Default Finishing Basement with Home Theatre Set Up

Hey all, I am looking to finish my basement, well at least one big room where i ll set up my home entertainment system. Does anyone know any books, websites, anything at all that i can get some ideas or information from? I want to do it right from the get go, which will bring about the best possible movie experience.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

well, I think how much money you have, and whether the decor matters is what you need to ask first

I don't know of any books that can help

Im looking at a budget of 5-10 thousand and im just looking for something simple yet attractive. My biggest concern is about sound proofing the basement.

=) i built a few home theater basement in my past. Advice i can give you are "PLAN AHEAD!" And make sure you get all your wiring done right after you put up stud, ALL the wiring. Don't rush on the wiring, and spend wisely on sound proofing.
As for design, google up home theater image and it should give you great variety of ideas. you can always go to a book store and pick up some Home theater magazine.
Hope it help

also a word of advice is use plumbing pvc to run your wires in case you need to change or upgrade them later (speakers or to the projector)
im about half way through mine 110'' steward not sure which projector yet

oh and i don't know if you like drywall or not. Time consuming if u ask me. I'd use those 4X8 panel they have at Lowes/home depot. kinda like the pic below. I mean, you don't have to use that brick design, there are ton of other cool panel type like dark wood or white wall, use the same color for the devider so it doesn't look like section. They are cheap and alot easy to deal with, ratherthan plaster the drywall and sand it down. And in the future, it'd be really easy if you can to take out each panel for behind wall wiring.

I used these guys to install my HT: http://www.soundworksandsecurity.com...s_security.php

And this guy is calibrating my plasma:
http://www.isftv.com/

My advice: DONT skimp on the speakers...especially the MIDDLE front. Almost all dialogue and most special fx (i.e. explosions, crashes, etc.) start there and move out to the sides.

Wish I had added some type of doorbell notification (light/buzzer) so I would know when someone is at the front door.
