Default My basement home Theatre

We recently developed our basement and put in a home theatre. Now this is nothing compared to some of the other home theatres on this forum, but it is our first attempt at it. Let me know what you all think of it.

My current gallery pics are on the HT gallery.

Nice! Looks like a fun room! My only comment is to try to clean up the wires behind your equipment shelves. I always find that stuff distracting. If you line the back of the shelves with black felt that will help make them disappear.

You have a very beautiful room, but the theater portion of it could use a few tweaks.

You would get a lot better sound if you brought your front speakers down closer to ear level. The center isn't that bad because at least it's aiming down at the listening position. However, with your front up that high tucked away on shelves, I guarantee you are missing a lot of the sound that comes out of those. Any chance you could move them down to one of the lower shelves?

Also, you have got to find a way to get your sub out of that bottom shelf and onto the floor in a corner somewhere. I have no idea how it sounds now, but you will probably notice a huge difference once you get it set up properly.

Dude, go to monoprice.com, order a longer subwoofer cable and put that sub out of its misery! That position cant be good for sound quality, you will want to put it on the floor somewhere and on it's feet.

Agreed, get the sub outta there!

I love the black felt idea- that seems like a simple bit to help hide wires. Definitely do some wire management. Looks like a nice space.

The layout of the room is nice...it's a beautiful room!

but i agree with some of the changes mentioned:

-you can leave the center channel at that location, just make sure that speaker is angled to the seats.
-place the front speakers on the bottom shelves, or whichever is at ear level
-use zip ties to do some cable management
-lining up the back wall of the shelves with black felt is a hell of an idea...me likes
-last and not least, corner load your sub!

Thank you everyone for your comments.

ol, my wife has been on my case about the cable management. The electronic store that I bought the TV and HTR from delivered and setup the TV and HTR, and they did hide the cables quite nicely. I then got in there and added the Wii and cable box and messed everything up.

I ordered a longer cable from Monoprice last week so I can put the sub on the floor. The installer was the one who put it in the shelf. He told me it won't make a difference being there. With me knowing very little about this stuff, I beleived him.

I will try the black felt idea, or run it by my wife to see if she approves of it. lol

Thanks again
