United Kingdom Dances with Wolves

This is now confirmed as region A (along with region B) and is the theatrical cut (181 mins). I have ordered this and the Geman Blu Ray (which is the extended cut - 237 mins) so will be interesting to compare when they arrive

Did not really want to have two copies of the film, but had to have the extended cut as well to add to my collection.

Amazon.de

Also, why start a new thread? There's a perfectly good one you could have added this to.

United Kingdom Which version is this?

I'm confused! The original theatrical version had a running time of around 3 hours and the extended version had a running time just short of 4 hours (233 mins). So, if this is the case, how can this version be the original (bare bones theatrical) cut @ 227 minutes?

That is the running time for the PAL DVD off the 233 minute cut. All Amazon sites use DVD data for BDs at present, which is quite irritating.

If you're shopping at Amazon.de might want to consider https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=124616

I find a fuller basket helps the environment much more

Can anyone post a picture of the their own copy of the UK version? I'm thinking of importing because I want the Theatrical Cut on Blu-ray and I'm wondering if the front cover has the usual UK ratings logos on the front cover. The amazon image doesn't and I don't know if that is the actual cover of if it is just for reference.

Thanks.

It will have ratings on the cover, discs, etc, if it's from the UK. It has to include them by law, i think.

United Kingdom Dances With Wolves UK Extended cut

Hi all, hope every one is well and settled in to the swing of 2012. Happy new year.
This is my first post on any Bluray.com forum so hope I don't make a fool of myself. Does anyone know if there are plans for a UK release of Dances With Wolves anytime soon. I sold my DVD box set of it and I don't really like getting copies from other countries if I can help it

Cheers

Welcome to the forums! If you mean is Dance with Wolves out on Blu-ray at all in the UK - it already is. The only thing is that it hasn't got the extended cut on it (if that's what you're after), and as far as I'm aware there's no plans to release it atm. The best bet if you're desperate for that version is to import from Germany, unfortunately. I came very close to doing just that, but in the end settled for the Theatrical cut, which I'm quite happy with.

Thanks for your reply and the welcome. I was aware of the Theatrical release, I wish I knew why Studios are messing us around especially if the extended one is available in HD for them to auther from.

I will just have to be patiant and hope they release a nice special edition like the DVD one.

Warner probably only has UK rights to the Theatrical cut.

You can get the Extended version in Germany on BD. It has English subtitles but for the whole film and not just not the Indian speaking.

According to Amazon.de, this has been pushed back to April 12th 2019.

There are other English friendly versions from Germany, I just picked one as an example from the database here. I have the OOP German steelbook which has both versions of film on separate disks.

Actually, there's not much to choose from. Both 2Disc editions (Steelbook and Mediabook-type) and Extended Cut single disc releases from Kinowelt are out of print and only available rather pricy from 3rd party sellers. These 3 editions have english subs for Native American dialogue only, not the whole movie. I expect the postponed rereleases from Winkler Films to be the same - I very much doubt they will offer full english subs for the whole movie. BTW, the Winkler editions of both cuts were originally scheduled for release this past June, I wonder what the hold-up is...
