Default Dances With Wolves & The Last Samurai????

Dances With Wolves has been postponed for a very long time and I'm getting impatient. I demand it to be released on blu-ray this year with very good sound quality or there's gonna be a lot of angry customers.

As for The Last Samurai, this was one of the earlier releases with a Dolby Digital soundtrack. But now, we all know blu-ray has won the competition, why won't the studio remaster the audio soundtrack? Does anyone think the audio will sound much better with a truehd or dtsma soundtrack?

i just ordered Dances (UK - region free), should receive it next week. Caveat: its theatrical (181 min), not extended (220'something). only about $16-17 though, so i jumped on it.

yeah i think Last Samurai would sound better, although the DD track isn't bad. Scenes like the first attack scene in the foggy woods really need DTS-HD

Probably because it had nothing to do with "the competition," it's just how Warner released it. They still release all of their TV series with 640k DD. Of course it would sound better with a lossless track, but 640k Dolby is nothing to sneeze at. Done properly, it can be downright astonishing.

BTW. I think The Last Samurai was released in Korea with DTS MA, might have been TrueHD. Either way it's lossless.

This was an Orion Pictures film, sadly MGM (who now owns Orion's films) is not in great financial shape. It would be nice to see a deluxe version with both cuts of the film so everyone would be happy. Some extras would be welcome as well. Funny that two Best Picture winners in a row would come from Orion Pictures, Silence of the Lambs won the next year. A few more years later and they were bye-bye!

Yeah but I think Costner is a bore as an actor. He has some good performances like A Perfect World, but most actors could take his best roles and perfect them sadly.

No way, he was amazing in Dances with Wolves, a real iconic character.
