Default Loading Speeds of various players.

Do we have a definate list of which players load the fastest?

I have both a launch 60gig PS3 and a recently purchased Sony BDP-301

And the PS3 blows it out of the water... not only on load times but in responsiveness of switching menu's, ejecting, loading, well everything really.

I've just updated my BDP-301 to 3.30 but it's still way too slow IMHO..

I'm really gutted, because I really like the BDP-301, but I'm not so sure I can live with it knowing my patience levels and that my PS3 in the backroom loads movies a zillion times quicker. This shouldn't be the case for stand-alone.

I either have one out of three choices.. (after establishing the speed and responsiveness of other players out there)

1.\ Shell out the extra 100 bucks and trade it in for a 40gig PS3.. BUT my stand alone fits in perfectly to my hi-fi rack and looks the bomb ! Plus the missus won't take too kindly to me owning 2 PS3's - She seems ok with the Blu-ray standalone but that was cos it was under $300.... The 40gig is AT LEAST $399. There's no disgusing the cost of a PS3.. She's bang onto that!

2.\ Shell out an extra painful $150 and swap it for a different model, providing they load as quick as a PS3. and keep the extra expense hush from the missus

3.\ Just throw in the bluray towel and wait until the techology advances so that a half a grand stand alone player doesn't fall to it's knees for doing what it was designed to do and that is play a goddam movie ! within a resonable timeframe.

Spidy3 just seems to take forever and ever to load....

Load times are just something you have to live with right now, unfortunately. Not a lot can be done about it, but like I said a few other times, it doesn't really bother me as long as the movie eventually plays. It reminds me of foreplay.

And I guess you've never had the pleasure of owning a Sony megachanger. Those take forever to turn on, scratch their ass, find, load, and start playing a disc.

Default PS3 for $299 on sonystyle.com

I just got a 40 GB PS3 from sonystyle.com for $299 with the $100 credit they put back on your Sony visa card. Plus it's 0% for a year, so no hurry to pay it off either.

I got my Sharp BD Player for 299 and has a decent load time. I don't have a PS3 to compare it to, but I know it blows the sony away because I checked out both the displays in the store!

No offence, but I'm not too keep on the asthetics of the Sharp or Samsungs..

I could be tempted to a Panny.. But other than that it's going to have to be another PS3... (

I just tried to apply for one of these damn cards and it said we will notify you within 30days via mail????? I'm originaly from England and have never borrowed any money on this side of the pond and therefore probably have no credit score. Hence their non immediate acceptance. So unless they get back to me via a postman flying in a super sonic jet, then I guess that one is out the window.. Bugger ! and I'd of pulled the trigger than and there for a 40gigger !

The Panny BD-30 is just about as fast as the PS3 is right now.
(from reading other reviews)
A few sec difference here or there but no where near what other 1.0 profile standalones are doing.

Most disks loads in about 30sec or so.
I can time a few over the weekend just to verify.
Just need to know what times you need.
From power on/load disk/first video screen (usually previews)?
Java loading times? (time of spinning icons on disney disks)
Unit already on, and loading a disk?

Let me know what you want.

My new Panasonic BD30 loads much faster than the BD10AK I had with latest firmware.

Currently the best Picture quality Blu-ray player out with profile 1.1 and 24p output support.

I tried the following disks and they all loaded in 30 sec starting the clock with the tray in the open position and pressing "play" on the remote.

POTC 3
Robocop
Superman Returns

I stoped the clock as soon as I saw video or the warning screen.
For POTC 3 it took an additional 15sec to load once I saw video and hit menu, which took me to the language screen.
Selecting the appropriate language immediately took me to the talking skull.

Is the PS3 much more quicker than that?

I think the BD+ movies take longer to load. I need to time "The Day After Tomorrow" and see how much difference between a PS3 and the Panny BD30.
