Why do they always measure in Kilobits and not Kilobytes? Like with HDD space, they tell you in Kiobits.

So the numbers look better

Honestly I have no idea, but it might be that way since way back, when there were 36.6 modems or less, and hdd that measured 500MB!

Seems like they just never updated the system.

Man my first connection "online" was to a BBS with a 9600 baud modem! Talk about slow! My Apple IIe had no HDD. My first Intel based PC did but only a measly 50MB or something like that.

Seems like most people now have fast multi Mb downstream connections. A few years ago it was exceptional though.

my speeds vary greatly in my house from computer to computer. even multiple test are varied quite a bit. How about some numbers from the broswer from a PS3?

My cable wire that feeds my modem has been chewed a little by the dogs so I know that is affecting it.

My DL was about 2000
my UP was about 2500

36.2kb/s. Same on the the uptake. Gotta love Dial-up.

High speed around here is incredibly expensive and really isn't high speed, since satellite high speed is pretty poor. I don't live far from major cities, but I am in a pocket where the infrastructure for internet services is low. But there are towers going up all around us, but have massive waiting lists since they're independent towers.

And heck, with download caps at 300MB per month with satellite internet, there's little point. If I have high speed I'm going to download everything under the sun....
