Default Post your internet speeds! Curious...

Just curious to what type of speeds people are seeing. With my current ISP I'm supposed to be getting 8MB/s download and 12MB/s with the speedboost, BUT I'm actually getting a bit over 22MB/s which is way more than I should be getting, but not unheard-of. And I'm only using regular coax, not fiber.

If that tester is measuring kilobits you've got 2.78MB/sec download and 0.23MB/sec upload.

Mine maxes out at around 2.1MB/sec DL | 0.7MB/sec UL

Mine is almost exactly the same. Cable modem through Time Warner. Though my upload is only averaging around .5MB/sec right now.

Nope. Check the units. You can change it to whatever you want. It was kilobits, I changed it.

Are you using DSL? Yours should be faster than 2.1MB/s

DSL has been cutting out a lot for me tonight, so these results may not be the most accurate. When it's working, it's good, have all my consoles wirelessly hooked up with it. When it's not working, I want to hit the router repeatedly with a baseball bat until it submits .

I'm surprised your DSL has that quick of a download speed. I hear you on hitting things with baseball bats. Each week my signal goes down by a dB or 2. Theres something wrong at the tap. Just replaced the drop about a month ago with RG-11 and tonight I ran a direct connection from the ground block to my modem with RG-11, and I still lose signal a couple times so far tonight.

Yeah, once a week, it's a routine of clicking refresh 90 times and seeing the "Page not loaded" errors. It happens at just about the worst times too, right when I'm settled in for some surfing . I know there is nothing wrong with my in-house connections, it's obviously going on either out at the road, or at At&T/Bellsouth, because when I check the modem, it always says "DSL Connection Down". Everything else is fine.

I am not a violent person or anything, but when you pay that much for something, it had better never go down, and if it does, let it happen at 2 AM, when I could care less. It's a little aggravating.

I did have cable for a while, but again - terrible customer service (Charter), I had to let them go. And I am not a heavy downloader or anything, at most I watch streaming movies from Netflix, or download games from PSN. So, I don't really need a superfast cable connection. I think the connection is pretty good, download speed and all. Just needs to always be on. I don't think I can get Comcast in my area anyway, it's just on the borderline where they will not bring cable internet service unless you beg.

You're a lucky bastard for living in the Tampa area and being able to get FIOS. Here is South Florida we're stuck with either Comcast or AT&T. I got AT&T (Bellsouth) and it maxes out at around 6300 kb/s.

you're lucky to get that fiber to the house. But you should have closer to 50MB/s download and upload. I'm getting 23MB/s download on Comcast. Mine is also wireless. Running my MacBook Pro thats in my sig and using an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11n router.

FIOS sucks because it is still no different because the fiber optics stops at a box on your wall outside.

My download is 18 MBs from comcast and is going up to 32 MBs soon.

My upload is around 5 to 6 MBs.

Am I the only person that uses MB = MegaByte, mb = megabit?

That would explain the confusion with the figures I gave earlier.
