I was obsessed with these movies as a kid. And the Gidget tv show starring Sally Field.

I think it's a safe bet that MGM will release it on blu-ray (hopefully right after Pajama Party). It's more silly fun with the beach party gang and features performances by Lesley Gore and James Brown.

Sony did a very nice HD restoration of the Gidget TV show. Unfortunately, it hasn't been released on blu-ray. The HD restoration first showed up on Amazon Prime and is currently on The Roku Channel:

How about The Girls on the Beach (1965, Paramount)? That's one that is sadly lacking on disc. It has three songs sung by the fabulous Lesley Gore.

I always hope for GIRLS ON THE BEACH. Maybe from Imprint/Via Vision? After all, they released the GIDGET box set, and have released several titles from Paramount.

Do we know why Beach Party was skipped over for an upgrade? If I remember correctly, the Dvd looks really good...

Doubt it’ll happen, but I’d love a complete boxed set of all (or at least most) of the original AIP titles. Of all of them, the original really deserves an upgrade.

And while it’s not part of the AIP series, I really like Ride the Wild Surf as a somewhat more serious film, and would love to see that make it to blu-ray as well.

Somewhere online, somebody commented that BEACH PARTY was screened live at a TCM function in the last year or so, and that the print shown appeared to have been remastered.

Great list! Thank you! So many of those I have yet to see. I forgot about Don't Make Waves. I have had that Dvd for longer than I can remember (bought it because I'm a fan of Tony Curtis). I would never claim it to be good but if you ever wanted to see a beach party film with Tony Curtis, Sharon Tate and Claudia Cardinale, this is the closest you will ever get.

I'm trying hard to remember if OUT OF IT (released in 1969 to capitalize on the popularity of Jon Voight, but actually filmed years earlier) had any "beach" scenes. I seem to recall Lada Edmund, Jr. playing a "beach bunny" type of girl.
