my wife bought me a new desktop. it has: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor with VT (2.40 GHz), and a
NVidia GeForce 8500GT graphics card. the card says it blu ray/hd dvd capable but i was wondering how good is it really for blu playback? im looking into putting a blu drive in the desktop. thanks let just add that i know next to nothing about computers but willing to learn and do the work to get this going. also considering a little pc gaming since i always thought it was too expensive to buy audio/video cards etc to do so but this computer seems up to it. if needed it can post all the specs. thanks again Last edited by un4gvn94538; 12-26-2007 at 05:31 PM. |

I would guess you would have no problems,
there is a free program to see if you have all the stuff needed to play blu-rays. http://www.cyberlink.com/english/sup.../diagnosis.jsp My computer is not up to snuff yet since I still have a single core cpu. |

Those specs are fine. The card has Nvidia's PureVideoHD, so you're fine there. As someone else mentioned, you'll either need an HDCP compliant monitor or use an analog connection (VGA).
If you're wanting to just add BD movie playback, you can get the Lite-on read-only drive for under $200 now (and it includes PowerDVD BD for playback). If you want BD burning the costs are considerably higher. |

that should be standard, any empty 5 1/4" bay would do probably SATA hookup.
