Default tx-sr605

Anyone know the best place to purchase a tx-sr605 this week? Online or not.

Or a reason why I shouldn't get this, I believe it is the best receiver for the money. I plan on hooking my computer up via DVI->HDMI cable, a HD-Tuner via component video/audio, and eventually a PS3 via HDMI; all outputting via HDMI out to my monitor/television.

price is a moving target. J&R was 399, now 449, but you should expect to pay ~ $400

Best place would be Amazon.com, or J&R music and computer world (jr.com). Both have it for $399 or less... actually if you order from Amazon, it ships from J&R anyways.

I am just wondering about this now... many of the cables list "in wall installation" in the description. What is the difference between the cables with in wall versus not; I don't plan on doing in wall installation so I would assume that I buy the one that doesn't list that... but I was just wondering.

Oh and I saw something in another thread about Vanns.com and found the price to be $394.99 with shipping that will get it here on Thursday or Friday of this upcoming week. This seems to be the best price; is Vanns a quality reseller of Onkyo products?

I checked Circuit City online for about a 3 week period. Their price fluctuates nicely and when I found it at a low of $369 on their website, I went and picked mine up in store. They also have a 30 day price match guarantee with themselves and with competitors on all major electronics, as do most major retailers.

yes, vanns.com is great company (bought my 12"subwoofer there...good service). I was going to link to vanns, but figured amazon being only a few dollars more, I like amazon a little better. But theyre both good places.

as for the cables, the in wall cable is a tad thicker and does not have to go into a wall...ive got one behind my set-up...I just prefer a thicker cable...the $5 6ft cable will be just fine too, and a bit more flexible.

Weird, I would certainly like to buy it from a B&M store simply cause its quicker in my opinion but I have never seen C&C's price below $450 on these personally since I have been watching them shortly after Xmas.

Vanns offers like $30 something insurance; are these policies just rip off? I mean should I be purchasing one; I certainly don't know how to fix a receiver like I can fix my own computer.

Oh and I could always order from Vanns through Amazon as well, similar to J&R. But shipping is slower.

Got mine back in September. I pounced on it because I thought the price was unusually low.....which it was. I got my Onkyo speakers to accompany my 605 from BHPhotoVideo.com. I was very pleased with their service and their pricing is typically competitive. They have the Silver model now for $429. The black is 20 bucks more. Guess that tells ya which sells better!

EDIT: Just saw $399 on Amazon with Free 2-Day shipping. I'd pounce. I wouldn't hold my breath hoping find better than that if I were you. Cheapest it will drop below that anywhere is probably ~$30.

I seriously doubt you will get a lemon. (not saying it cant happen, but its highly improbable) But they both have great customer service so if you need to, im sure replacement wont be difficult.

I just ordered one off of J&R last Thursday for $399 + no tax + free shipping. I got an email yesterday from them saying that they had shipped the receiver. I am guessing I will get it sometime this week. I came very close to getting the 705, but couldn't logically justify the extra $230. I will be hooking up a 5.1 speaker system (all Polks)...I hope it works well!

cking touched on this but make sure you notice the color of the reciever, the silver is sometimes advertised at a lower price. I bought the 805, you'll be really happy with the performance, great reciever.

Crackinhedz is 100% accurate in his statement above. I can vouch whole-heartedly for Vann's customer service. See this thread for further details.
