Default H.264 files and DivX Certification on Blu-ray.

Greetings folks. My time has come. I want to buy a BD player, but I have a nagging little question that's been bugging me.

The last few years I've been encoding alot of video (ex: such as music videos) to compressed formats such as DivX and H.264.

These are not HD - most resolutions are in 640x480. Most of my H.264 videos are in an MP4 container with AAC audio.

I'm in no rush for BD video playback of this content. I can wait for the day when good consumer-based software will easily convert these files to decent HD format as a BD video disc. Yes, there will be some lossiness, but hey, such is life.

But what about playback as data files?

My question(s):

Do BD players support H.264 content in an MP4 container burned to disc as data? I know that H.264 is an accepted standard, so there should be a built-in decoder no doubt. I know file discs are not DvD or BD, but I'm wondering if the "typical" BD player accepts them much like almost every new DvD player accepts MP3, JPG, etc. although it's not "compliant DvD audio/video".

I guess I'm referring to a format much like DivX certification. And speaking of, how is DivX certification doing with BD players? Is this commonplace as it is on DvD players?

And what about AAC audio?

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this about the market, now and in the future, for these optional types of formats and features, and I'd love to buy a player that supports them. No, I don't want a PS3, and I did not enjoy my Apple TV either. I want BD.

I know we buy BD players for the HD playback discs, and I do intend to enjoy this too, but these files too are important to me as well.

Thanks for any feedback!
