Default stuttering tv question

I purchased a Samsung lcd about 6 months ago, and it has started stuttering a little recently. While looking for the problem, I found out my house wired a bit weird, but up to code, so my landlord won't fix it. The wall sockets read a bit too hith, and fluctuate in voltages by about 15 volts. He said that if I get a UPS that should fix it as it could send clean power through all the time. Does this sound right?

no, a UPS is an Uninteruptable Power Supply.. and backs up power with a battery, it doesn't correct any but minor problems
You really need a power conditioner

but... did you check you cables. is it only with blu, off air, or sat ???
more info please

Yes some UPS' have a voltage regulator in them but be careful to get one that is rated high enough to support everything you plug into it.

Also look at a voltage stabilizer. Most stabilizers use a variac to compensate for voltage changes. It can either reduce or increase the ac voltage to it's outputs to keep it at 120VAC (just like the a voltage regulator). However, these are much more expensive than ups'.

That will not correct for voltage problems...it will only protect against under or over voltage situations meaning when the power is too high or low, it shuts off.

It won't change the fact that his voltage is low...

You need a very good power conditioner, and as soon as possible.

These APC's are the best I've seen in affordable units. Take a look.

Monster and Panamax also make them, but at about 50% more in price, at the least.

you need to go to www.partsexpress.com and look up the tripplite surge supressors and the voltage regulators...they are very cheap and do just as good as job as the $300-$500...it would be best to get a VR because a power conditioner isn't going to regulate the voltages...

here is what you need for a power conditioner...http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=125-004

and here is what you should get for a VR...http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=125-100 that may not be the prettiest thing but you can always hide it and it does a great job!!!
