Default LCD Display Issue

To start off, I have a 37" 720p Samsung.

My problem is as follows:

About 2 inches down from the top, I have a bar across that is brighter than the rest of the TV. To clarify, from the top the picture is perfection for an inch or 2, then there is about an inch-wide line across that is brighter. Then the rest of the way down the picture is excellent. (This happens in both HDMI and Component modes).

Any ideas what this could be and how I could fix it?

If you need more clarification just let me know.

Do you see it without a video signal present -- a "black" screen?

Nope, it's at anytime the tv is on. Strangest thing i've ever seen.

I'm asking if you disconnect all the video inputs...turn on the set...turn out the lights...do you still see it?

Thanks for clarifying.

I'll try that and see what happens. I'll let you know.

No, the line doesn't show up when I do that.

Also, a friend of mine is playing DMC4 right now and the line isn't there.

It's almost like it only happens when certain shades of blue run across that specific spot on the TV.

Try to isolate whether the problem is in the display or the system feeding it. Try different sources and different inputs of the TV. Check whether it appears on all inputs including composite video. The problem could in a particular source or it could be the TV.

As you have said, if it always happens for a particular colour regardless of the source or the input/cable, problem is likely in the TV. In this case you might have to service it.
