Default Denon DVD-3800BDCI OSD audio display issue

I purchased this impressive machine.
It looks and sounds great.

However, I have small problem that I can not solve or do not understand.

When playing BD with LPCM, DTS-Master, etc. the OSD (On Screen Display) using the remote always shows:

Audio: PCM
Max Channels: 2

This does not reflect what actual audio the machine is playing, LPCM, DTS-Master, etc. as shown in the BD players actual display.

What's going on?

Help or comments?

Thanks

How and to what is the 3800 connected? Is the 3800 set to bitstream or decode within the player? If you're decoding in the player, your AVR will only see MPCM and display the input as "PCM" or "Multichannel" or some such. Let's sort this out and then we'll get to the 2ch issue.

The 3800 is connected via coax digital, and 7.1 analog to a Lexicon MC12. So I have the audio HDMI turned off because the MC12 I have does not have HDMI processing.

For a movie like Juno I am getting DTS-Master from the 5.1, and DTS from the digital. However, OSD shows PCM and 2 channel. The BD player display correctly shows the DTS-Master as multi channel audio.

Thanks

If you're using analog out for audio, the "7.1ch Audio Out" dropdown should be set to "Multi-channel" whereas it sounds like you have it set to "2 Channel".

If you're using coax/digital out for audio, you're limited to 2 channels.
