Question klipsch quintet: II vs III vs SL

from your experiences, which set is the best?

or would you guys advise against purchasing speaker bundles and to buy speakers all separate?

here are the links:

what ones sounded better to you? What type of music did you take with you to try out??? If you used a wide range of music, it should have helped point you in the right direction.....

when you listened to them, was it with, or without the sub?

Really depends one what you're trying to do..... if you think you can slowly build, then I'd get fronts, or fronts/center, then surrounds/sub, but if you think a simple system will be satisfactory to you for 10 years plus, then getting a "package" deal is a good bang for your buck.

What is your budget, and future plans?

You didn't spare too much expense on the T.V., so if I were you I'd try to "build" a system.

I have the Quintet III and it works like a charm. Its very clear and consise. I probably would of gotten the SLs if I was rich, but for the money the IIIs were very good and did everything that I wanted them to do.

Also, before you actually purchase them, go to a Best Buy and listen to them and take into consideration the use/abuse of being display models.

I would never buy a speaker that i had not heard. Just because it sounds good in someones room, does not mean it will sound good in yours.
I would recommend buying speakers separately, you will end up with a far better system, it will just take a little longer to get there.

welcome back mr. 3 ohms...

MY rule of thumb
front stage first.
buy your fronts.
make sure you find a matching center.

buy all three as soon as possible *sometimes some models are replaced with newer ones, this is also btw not mandatory, just something to think about.

get surrounds. no need to shell out the same amount of money as you did the first round with your front soundstage, but something close to it would help out in the long run.

THEN you work with acoustics.

Is that including the receiver?

If so... Here's Many options either way to consider:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=47017

for speakers, then you have $300-$400 or so for a receiver.

Good luck!

I have the Klipsch III's as well and they rock. They're clear and crisp, and provide a big sound for a great price. Check out the Cnet review here:

I strongly suggest you listen to something (anything) non-horn based in your price range..... the horn tweeters may appeal to you, and if so, great, but you should at least have something to compare them to, because they're completely different sounds.

I completely agree. If you like Klipsch after listening to a few options, then spend your money. But don't go buy them because you hear people talking about them or because they look cool. Klipsch has a very unique sounds - some love it, some hate it.

So just make sure to decide for yourself. Get some ideas from online forums, but then go listen to them and buy what sounds good to you.

Hi There:

I would recommend neither. The speakers above are all too small (tweeter and woofer) to get any real depth of sound.

I would recommend going to Future Shop (I assume you're in Canada due to the Bestbuy.CA) and pick up the following:

2 pairs: ($400)
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0087356&catid=

1 center: ($200)
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0088995&catid=

Total Cost = $600 and speakers that blow away what you have above.

thanks for the heads up

I had the IIs in my first system and loved them The IIIs are an improved version of the II, and are noticeably better. The SLs are a further improvement.
TIP: Drive to Buffalo and save at least $200 at Best Buy!
Tip #2: Best But occasionally runs a sale on the III for $299, and the matching 10" sub for $249.
