PS3 hooked to a vga projector??????

Hi there,

I am a frequent dvd-buyer, but it's getting harder to put the money down, knowing these discs are becoming rapidly old-fashioned.

In march, the PS3 will be available in Europe and I am thinking of buying one.

Can somebody tell me if my current setup can be hooked to the PS3?

My current projector is an Infocus X1 with only 800x600 resolution. with vga cable connected.
Can I put a dvi transfer piece to the vga and put a hdmi-dvi cable from the ps3 to the projector?

According to the tech notes from the infocus, it can handle 1080i (downconverted of coarse... I know the image will not be anywhere close to HD...)

My only question is, will I get to play the discs and see dvd quality?
If it would work, I can start my new collection and when I buy a full HD projector in about 12 months, I already have some BD-discs.
