Red face Forgive me blu-ray.com for I have bought a DVD.

I tried keeping it a secret. I thought, eh, one little DVD couldn't hurt. Could it?

I resisted and resisted holding fast to my blu-blood ideals. In the end I caved. But it was a Disney title if that is any sort of repentence. I never got to see the 1979 theater release. I think I saw it once on TV.

"The Black Hole". But even when I was watching it I kept thinking how much better it would have looked on blu-ray. It really is a beautiful movie which deserves a HD transfer. Even the ending was weird and almost without meaning. In essense, it was like an off spring of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I waited 30 years to have this movie. I am happier for having the DVD than I was waiting (possibly in vain) for the blu-ray edition. With that said, I accept my punishment.

(_Y_) Ow, oww, OHHHH, OWWW.

to be honest i buy or rent films like romantic comedies on dvd .. like fools gold, 27 dresses, made of honour, whats happens in vegas etc..

i dont think they are worth the purchase in HD... and my wife likes the genre so we end up watching quite a few titles like that..

I am sad to say that you are not alone. I too just caved for a Disney DVD, The Little Mermaid. This is for my daughter who is nearly three, and has been asking to see this movie since seeing it on VHS at a relative's house. Judging by the new Disney slate for next couple of years, The Little Mermaid will not see blu until she goes to univeristy . In the end it will be an inevitable double dip, but there are definately worst titles to see that fate.

I am old enough to have seen this movie in the old time movie houses. When ticket prices where like three or four dollars ! Forgot about this one till you posted. Great movie(if I remember)" People in glass houses should not throw stones" That is my motto and I am guilty as charged. Bought every KISSOLOGY that came out on DVD .

I actually still buy a lot of SDs and have been building up my movie library with a lot of older titles that are probably not in production anymore. It is going be a very long time until Blu selection comes remotly close to SD selection and I have a feeling that there are a lot movie on SD that will never see the Blu light of day. I also don't think studious are going to be reissuing a lot of the older releases and you will see a fair number of great movies becoming impossible to find in the next couple years.

With SD prices running $5-7 on thousands of titles, it makes sense to pump up the media library. Disney will release Black Hole on Blu someday, but I wouldn't expect it to hit any sooner than 3-4 years. If it's something you really wanted to own, then getting on SD was the right choice and you shouldn't feel ashamed.

I have probably bought about 30 SDs over the last two months spending about $5 on average per title. Now is the time to stock up!

Tron loves the 1980's Disney Sci-fi action flicks. All you need is Flight of the Navigator and you are set.
