Default Covering and disguising cables.

Hey everybody,
I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself....
I've just joined the ranks of the proud Blu-Ray owners with my recent PS3 purchase. I've just begun the process of building a home theater.
Surrounding the viewing area will be two rear speakers so speaker wire will be traveling across the floor to connect to the receiver.
I was wondering are there any ideas or places for me to go to conceal the exposed speaker wire on the floor.
Obviously it would be an improvement aesthetically, and also a safety precaution to prevent tripping and injury.
Thanks in advance guys.

My sugestion is to run them against the wall or by covering them with the molding on the ground.

I use flat speaker wire which work great under carpet or throw rugs. They ain't cheap but they are quality.

You find good deals on gently used at audiogon.com. I think with the Christmas season A/V buying sprees, their selection is kinda low.

Hit www.nordost.com if you want a closer look.

You can use wiremold, a product found in any Home Depot's electrical department. However, it can become somewhat expensive, but an option worth exploration...

strewn beer cans work well.

Female undergarments are preferred though

I hid mine under the floor by drilling holes through the floor. Nothing to trip over

If you own your home, think about pulling wire through walls and ceilings. Sheetrock is very, very cheap, easy to fix and then you have a permanent, very attractive solution. At the same time, you can run phone lines and Cat5 cable to the same location, where they will be needed eventually.

As an aside, having caller ID on your satellite receiver is totally cool.

For those with carpet, and moulding.... just tuck it under the moulding along the walls it's not "in wall" so you don't break code.....

Unfortunately I don't have a room in my house with carpeting..... but the new house has the Attic (future theater) being the only room with carpet (We'll probably take out the carpet and put in new carpet though)

I found this interesting disguise for cables from monster, although it may be too much for most to afford.

I run all of my cables under an area rug I picked up from Lowes. I wouldn't say it's be best way to hide the cables but it does the job and nobody trips on anything.

I just fishtaped all the cables under the carpet, looks clean and isn't visible although if you like to lay on the floor while watching movies like I do sometimes you might lay on one and you will have to move.

I just have all the speaker wire running along the floor close to the baseboards.

It is mostly hidden by furniture.

Some stretches are visible but the speaker cable I bought was light brown and my carpet is nearly the same color. That was a lucky accident.

In one section that had some cable visible, the baseboard looked a bit loose. So after a while I pulled it off and hid the speaker cable behind it. It does look a bit better I have to admit.

Hiding the cables might turn out to be a non-issue unless your wife notices.

My main concern is my side surround speakers. My only other option would be to cut holes in sheetrock etc.. in a room I painted less then a year ago. Which I will do unless these "flat" paintable cables are just as good. I run fairly nice receiver and speakers (not HTIB, lol) and don't want any sound quality issues. So anybody that have these??
