Hdd-raid ?

hey, i myself am fairly confident with computers and am currently building my second pc, this one being a budget system for internet, word, music. Anyhow rather imbaressed to ask but i realy don't know what it means when people and websites say they have there HDD running in Raid 0,1,2 etc. I know that i could look it up on wiki or other computing websites but there is always so much to read and i realy can't be fussed with it all. If anyone could explain to me in a basic way what it means and the benifits of it i would appreciate this greatly! I am fed up of having moments...

RAID 0 = Data across all disks, for increased performance. There is no redundancy though, so if one drive fails they all fail.

RAID 1 = Mirrored drives, data is written to two drives simultaneously. If one fails, the data is still on the other.

RAID 5 = Data across all disks. Data is striped and redundant, if one drive fails it is "hot swappable".

These are the main ones with RAID 5 being the most popular.

A lot of companies are starting to move towards RAID 6 because it is dual disk fault tolerant. Meaning if two drives fail, it can still rebuild.
