Default Should Amazon stop showing reviews of the DVD when you click on a Blu-ray title?

For quite a lot of Blu-ray discs on Amazon & Amazon UK, when you view a Blu-ray, it shows customer reviews but most of the reviews are for one of the DVD versions, not the Blu-ray that you have clicked on. The Blu-ray version may be very different than the 1 or 2 disc DVD version, so having most of the reviews be from a DVD version doesn't make much sense to me.

i mean...the reviews are namely for the movie itself so what they're doing kind of makes sense. however with next generation movies reviews should also focus on a/v quality and new special features, so in that sense i think they should be separated. kind of torn.

I think that it would be a lot better if they separated them, especially if the features are different or if picture and sound quality between the DVD versions/Blu-ray versions are very different.

eg. one Blu-ray title has over 100 reviews, but the vast majority of those are for one of the DVD versions - we shouldn't have to scroll past/page through irrelevant reviews to find a review for the Blu-ray title we clicked on I think.

Couldn't care less.
The problem with Amazon reviews (and the reason I generally don't bother reading them) is that most of the dullards who write them are only interested in telling me their opinion of the movie.

1. "Disaster Movie" grossed $2,000,000 on its opening day. That alone tells me that I shouldn't be looking to the average person for movie suggestions.

2. In the increasingly rare event that I'll seriously consider paying for a blu-ray, chances are I've already seen the movie. What I want to know is wether the blu-ray has been screwed up with DNR or an older master.
(Ironically, hearing some cretin complain about grain is pretty useful there, since it serves as some assurance that it's a quality release)

I wish Amazon would add a Blu-ray search subsection so I don't get anything but Blu-ray movies when I do a search.

I, too, stopped reading Amazon reviews because of the idiots reviewing the movie and saying nothing about the actual product. I complained and was told that there are plenty of websites that review the quality of the dvd and it's too difficult for Amazon to separate the reviews.

I use Highdefdigest for blu reviews.

I thought you could? If you go to amazon.com and select 'Movies & TV', you can then change the search bar from 'Movies & TV' to 'Blu-ray'.

I have a funny story about people reviewing DVD's on Amazon. This guy was reviewing a Tom & Jerry Spotlight collection. He mentions that Hanna Barbera was an awesome director and that she made a name for herself. LOL. I almost fell off the chair on that one.

Amazon needs to redesign their entire template for Blu-ray movies. They've hit the wall in limitations by shoehorning their BD releases in their old DVD listing style. I was a little surprised this wasn't redone already for the holiday season upcoming.

+1
Although they say that the review is from a dvd version (in smaller writing than the review), the fact they intentionally put those reviews under a totally different product, which may have totally different features etc. might well be wrong under the trade descriptions act It's essentially a false description of the goods as they know those reviews are for a different product.

No. Keep them combined. Too many dumb comments from bitter HD DVD fanboys when they're seperate. One reason I don't waste my time reading them.

So even when they list all the extras or whatever on the disc and you think "that sounds great" only to find out the Blu-ray has none of those extras and the only review that is actually for the Blu-ray is the 121st review in the list? Won't you be a bit unhappy about getting something because you thought it was good value especially with all the features listed or because the review said it would work in your region but they were talking about the DVD? Or you read a Blu-ray review but the features listed are from a different release of the Blu-ray with features that aren't on the product you are viewing?

I see your point. In the beginning, Amazon did have separate reviews for just about every Blu-ray and it was a disaster. Now sometimes they have separate reviews and sometimes they don't. The opinions on Amazon can't be trusted which in turn gives them little value.

Perhaps things might be different postwar. Knowing how things use to be, I'd still say keep the listings separate, but combine the reviews.

Yes, and the same goes for different editions of DVDs. It's so annoying.
