Hey everyone!
So I'm about to purchase a new LCD for my living room and I just thought I'd ask for some opinions on the two sets I am deciding between. I am going between the Sharp LC46D64U and the Sony 46S4100. I currently own the Sharp 37D62U and am shuffeling that into the bedroom. Now I love my Sharp LCD, but I can't help but think that I may be missing out on something better at around the same price point. I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys (and gals) on this. |

I have a 52" Sony Bravia XBR4 and absolutely love it. Though I don't use the Motionflow technology for Blu-ray movies, I do here that it is great watching HD sports with the 120hz processor. What I appreciate most about my line of Sony products is that they flow easily together using media stick pro duo, their remote controls and bravia sync.
52" 120 Hz LCD Sony Bravia XBR4 Television 42" Sony Projection LCD Television Sony STR-DA 3400ES HDMI 7.1 Receiver Playstation 3 XBOX 360 Elite Sony PSP Sony Burning Blu-ray VGN-FZ180E Laptop 162 Blu-ray and counting Boo-Yaa!!! |

Sony, if that is those are the only 2 your choosing between, but really the S series does not match that of the Samsung LN46A550, and that would be a better purchase. It has more features and better contrast ratio, plus they are the same price at BB. Just one persons opinion.

Not saying Sharp is bad but I am not saying it is good, Sharp will give you a darker picture and I like Sony (just think they are overpriced) Go with the Sony. Just gonna throw this in Pan th46pz85u on amazon for $1200!!!!!!
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Vier...4227648&sr=8-1 and its cheaper then the Sony and I would go with that Panasonic over that sony model any day of the week. |

Didn't sharp rate really bad for motion blur in that one test that that guy did? I've seen a few at my work and personally i think they're overpriced. The 46" wasn't bad(4got model # 54u? 7,500 contrast) but the 52" was really choppy(64u? 10,000 contrast)

You know what's funny..
Sony uses the exact same panels you will find in a Sharp LCD so they're only different softwarewise. I waited for over a year before buying into a new tv and I kept coming back to Sharp for giving the best picture (Calibrated). Each tv has it's flaws, with Sony you get clouding which isn't removable and with Sharp you get banding which is usually only slightly visible when watching SD content. With HD, I never saw a band ever! I personally think Sharp is underrated and Sony get´s all the credit for paying off magazines for making them look like manufacturing the best tv´s. I´d go with Sharp |

After seeing many LCDs at best buy and having a few myself, I am going to have to say Sony in the (Sony vs. Sharp) category. Sony's have better black levels and when watching sports their Motion Flow 120hz is really nice. However, if you are looking in that range, I would seriously consider looking at the Samsung LNa650 series. They are extremely impressive and have the best black levels of any non LED LCD. Have fun and enjoy whatever you get.

I actually own both. I have a 32" Sharp Aquos in the bedroom and the Sony in my Sig in the living room. IMO they are both good tvs, but the PQ on the Sony is far superior to the Sharp's. For the main display, i would definitely go with Sony. I've never had any problems/complaints with the Sharp either.

if you go sony get the V series TV, way better than the S serious. More people comin in and return the S series and get the V after they see the PQ on it.
but like someone else mentioned, the 550 series samsung is around the same price and has a far superior picture on it. If you can, try to score a 580 from best buy. its a best buy exclusive and this tv is sick! |

Wow! Thanks for all the responses guys. Looks like Sony is the winner so far. Might have to check out the Samsung everyone keeps mentioning. Again, thanks for all the great feedback! I'll update with my final choice when I get the new set.
